It's not the game (as gameplay/presentation), it's the whole package provided by Blizzard.

I've played the game and I liked it. But not enough to admit paying for a SP game that behaves like an MMO.

Just to be clear. I agree with you. I find the always online aspect outrageously stupid, and completely pointless. The only benefit belongs to Blizzard, it benefits in NO FUCKING WAY to end user.

if it means no(or way less) dupes, hacks, bots then in d2, i DO benefit as an end user.

So you are wrong, garus.

And if the RMAH helps finance the servers for ever and ever, i again benefit as an end user.

And if i at some point find a really awesome legendary with just the right stats and can sell it for 50 bucks or whatever, who am i to complain about blizzard taking a cut from my FREE MONEY.

So, yeah , garus, you are wrong, oh so wrong Smile

yeah, tell that to the 99£% who dont see it as a singleplayer game.

Even sabin isn't playing it "sp" anymore, since using the AH makes it MP.

So yeah, i feel so bad for the 1% out there who plays it as a sp ...

Or the people who cant afford to buy the game and whine because it cant be cracked haha.

Wow didn't expect Blizzard to brainwash Sin317 about the whole "online only experience is better for the end user"... Yeah definitely, so much better that Blizzard just lost another customer since StarCraft II Very Happy

Surely Ubisoft failed at brainwashing people though...

Hey hey, I'm playing it SP thankyouverymuch. I have zero intention or desire to socialise in any way - I've used the AH a couple of times for two reasons;

1. They're forcing me online so I might as well take advantage of it.
2. I use it as an expensive "black market" that I fit in to SP

If I could choose between access to AH or an offline mode, it would be a no fucking brainer Very Happy

You could play D2 with other people too. You could play Internet Hearts with other people too also...

This multiplayer "excuse" to turn the game into an MMO is bull. Smile

I don't own it but my friend does (he is crazy wow player and have d3 for free)
and we played it for a couple of hours and I dislike many things about it.
-characters look mostly terrible with few exceptions
-animations are rather fine but in combat everything gets twitchy and jerky.. enemies are outlined, they flash, screen shakes.. its terrible. Feels like dumb mbay diablo.
-conversations feels like mmo and are not engaging. but again - Its diablo.
-not to mention whole mmoish internet stronghold created by blizzard around "singleplayer" game. Tho coop is working awesomely.

-Overall its very very good hack'n'slash game with incredible loot(!!!). But simple presentation problems, online problems and streamlining problems make it hard to go crazy about for me.

I get it, that many people will love it and so on but imo its nothing to drool about with such a madness... omfg diablo lol wut

That friend who is a wow maniac simply doesn't like it at all. He will lend me his account and I will play it a bit more because overall its very enjoyable. better than titan quest for sure
Laughing

Blizzard have become this terrible monstrosity that consumes money and don't give much back... I liked old blizzard (before wow) way more

I am not buying Diablo 3 because of it's DRM. I earn enough money to buy it but I won't touch it. If I support Blizzard with my money for this type of DRM on a single player game, I'd feel guilty if other game devs adapt it too, because it was/is a success.

They can apply a significant amount of hotfix and balance changes without requiring the player to download a patch.
That's one of the perks of having so much of the data on the servers, something they've been doing with WoW for a while.

It doesn't remove the need for actual patches (obviously), but it gives them the ability to release many smaller changes immediately, instead of holding them back while making one patch. That's a great tool toward creating a smoother experience.

Now, I don't think it warrants the lack of a offline mode, I don't think ANYTHING warrants the lack of an offline mode, but I wouldn't say that there's no benefits to the end user.

As an ex-WoW hardcore player I understand fully Blizzard's goals with D3, as I see a lot of WoW-inspired both art, gameplay design and mechanics.

Translation - for me - of D3 features is taken from someone else but reflects exactly how I see it myself too:

- RMAH - legalized gold selling - oh boy, how much money Blizz lost through farmers, but not anymore!
- pay-to-win AH - got gold/money - you own, as there is no need to farm and play countless hours
- always-online DRM for a game that has a clear, major and distinct SP component!!
- no more free-spending attribute points - a component of the whole itemisation equation and full control for each class by Blizz and ofc, not the player

It wouldn't hurt for some people to reconsider corporate bullshit and treat it for what it is. Wink

It's worked fine for me since the beta, the whole game pauses when you hit ESC but only if you're playing SP with no other human players.

Nearly done with the second act now, level 24 and things are going considerably better now that I've found higher level items with vitality and regeneration attributes, nearly 2000 health and constantly healing has really helped though I'm going to need significantly better weapons.
(Level 18 requirement is the highest I've found so far but they still do very low damage.)

EDIT: Still the game feels significantly easier than the previous Diablo games although it has a number of improvements as well.
(It's completely pointless but I like the destruction you can accomplish and the ragdoll deaths, some more gore aside from just decapitation would have been nice though.)

(Latency is still pretty high but ~150 - 200 is far better than earlier.)
