I just checked, only normal is available indeed. Maybe I'm confusing it with the beta (if anything above normal was available there). Apologies, a lot on my mind.

The difficulty above normal, I don't remember what it was called.

you cant select difficulty as such.

You have to finish the game in normal (~level 1-30) then Nightmare (30ish+) then Hell (i guess 50+) and then Inferno (60).

there is no individual "option".

It should be quite a step up in hard then? That's cool.

@Sin317: So I can't play on hard even if I buy the game? Why am I forced to start on normal?

Nightmare is sort-of like restarting but you keep your character (A low level player wouldn't work at all, would be quite a challenge even with higher level players via co-op I guess.) and things are a bit more difficult since they take into account that you've beaten the game once and know how things work, main incentive would be the better quality items and other unlocks that appear as you work towards the level 60 character level limit or how to describe it.
(Rare items become more common, legendary items start appearing as does set items and higher tiers of gems and other support gear I guess but it also ties to character level, also needed for achievements since there's a number of them requiring hell difficulty but that's not quite so important, ha ha.)

Plus right from the get go, the enemies are of higher level - you'd get squashed in a split second with a newbie character.

Your best chance is an amazon discount when they get their stocks up in a few weeks.

Aye, I definitely second that. I figured "Since Blizzard are forcing the AH on us, I might as well check it out" --- and I've found some cracking bargains, really powerful armour for pennies... and even Flawless gems for 399 each grinhurt

I'm actually toying with going back to Eve. The PvP and player controlled environment sets it aparts; it's just a slow grind at the start.

Back on topic though; Diablo reminds me of track and field which it comes to combat. just mash 2 buttons until everything dead in record time.

I'm hoping that gets better and there might be 'tactics' involved somewhere down the line.

Try disabling p2p in the download options and see if that helps.

Have you disabled "automatic detection" under "Lan Settings" in "internet options" in windows? Supposedly that helps.

Just downloading with max of my connection (1.5MB/s).

Yes

And once you find better and you`re done with the items you can re auction them to retake the costs or even make profit out of it. Im geared up in pretty powerful rares from top to bottom and full of $$$ , thanks to manipulating the AH market Very Happy

It may be harder to do it in Hell-Inferno due to market change and the rarity of items but at that point i think the RMAH will take over the gold AH as the main auction house...

My fucking god it's annoying trying to do certain boss achievements. For example some of those achievements to avoid certain attacks from Beliar. You try to move, but of course you manage to click on a part of that HUGE hitbox even though you click the ground so you stand completely still and take the attack. DFSSDF

Its not fair for all classes. As a demon hunter i have Vault so it makes avoiding stuff much easier but i can see why it may be a bit more difficult for other classes.

Tbh achievements are no big deal of any game. Sometimes they take away the joy from the actual playing putting it into meaningless stuff.
My personal feeling about it is - that it's nice if you get them...but if You dont...so what? Smile

ok, some advice :

forget the blacksmith (crafting).

its way too expensive and items are way too crap (and you spend tons of money into hoping to get the actual mods/stats you want).

Instead, trust me, use the

Auction House.

Use proper filter , like level range ( like 2-4 levels below your level - your level) , rare items. Also good thing to filter for stats, like vitality + your main stat.

Also at the bottom, you can set "max buyout", set it really low, like 2000 and only raise if you dont get any results.

You find TONS of KICKASS items, for 1000-2000 gold.

Wish i had known that before i spent like 100k+ on the stupid blacksmith.

I couldn't agree more! The blacksmith is turning out to be a major cash sinkhole, one that seems to be pretty useless compared to the AH (which, in the interest of lore and non-cheaty-behaviour, I'm seeing it as an expensive black market for rare goods Laughing) where you can get godly items, materials, ingredients, etc for good prices. I've put around 70k into the smith and kinda wish I hadn't >_<
