I got 4 words for you why it's client/server based... Cash Money Auction House. At least the game won't be rampant with item duping, hacks and cheating as has plagued other games like this. Even though Blizzard has stated that the PVP will be "casual" and classes won't be balanced for PVP, at least you will know that most likely whomever you are fighting either has a shitload of cash, more time on his hands that he knows what to do with, or has the same odds/chance/gear quality that you do.

Despite the problems, I'm kinda glad it was client/server because I plan on doing a lot of multi and this ensures that I get the most hack free game possible. Also, it will give the game longevity because you can't item dupe your way to success, you have to truly earn it. Also, I feel like I get my money's worth because I know this shit is being hosted on Blizzard server's and not reliant on some shmucks shitty DSL or cable who's downloading and seeding a boatload of porn while trying to host a game. Blizzard, more than pretty much anyone, knows how to deal with a huge number of users. Once they get it sorted out, I expect the game to remain very stable. If it doesn't, then I will understand the uproar. But as of now, who didn't expect some problems at launch on one of the most anticipated games ever?

So glad that I didn't buy Diablo 3. On the other hand, I'm more of a SP kind of guy, so not likely to buy a game that requires permanent internet connection (especially for SP).

My money might go to Spellforce 2: Faith in Destiny, if the game ends up being anywhere near the first two SF2.

so you must be stupid to buy a game that requires online access? its not 1998, dialup isnt the driving factor of the internet anymore.

I myself internet and PC is on 24/7 anyway. so doesn't bother me in the least. is the online gameplay an issue? not really, I expected issues at launch, as with every game. and with it being online, if there is issues/bugs/etc they get on top of fixing it a LOT faster than 95% of offline games..

so to each their own,

My email requires "online access"
My music collect requires "online access"
My games I host servers for requires "online access"
Every forum I goto requires "online access"
Every site I read requires "online access"
My voice chat software requires "online access"
Even my job requires "online access"
Me wacking it to porn requires "online access"

so what if 1 of the games I play wants it also? its not 'stupid people' required to make it possible.

so we should go post on the eve forums about their first 3 months of go live, their random "the devs are working on it" new content and login issues with each chapter everytime it goes live. the ongoing and still problematic "stuck in jita and cant login" issue..

easy for a game around for that many years to forgot they had just as bad a start as the rest..

BF3 is crap to start with, they can rub it with 1000 grit sandpaper all they want, it will still be BF3 Razz

Name a online game that everyone logged in and was lag free, login problem free, and no complaints on launch day, then we can have a gauge of what "good online launch" is.

by my view they are doing at least par for the course.

Pfeh, surely just 4chan and silly whiners complaining about always online DRM (oops sorry, it's not DRM) for a single-player game.

They are WRONG of course Laughing

Yea, who knew a game that was based on a previous success that over 90% of the people played online, would be based online....who would have seen that coming?

People weren't expecting Diablo III to be a stripped down version of WoW in an rts view with 4 player coop

since it requires internet its a "wow clone". thats a FAR stretch to make. so far its diablo 2 loyal from what Ive played.

hell to follow that logic:

Back when I was a kid, we could play games that didn't require electricity, only a board and pieces.
what is this "always on power" requirement bullshit for my PC games. I say down with this coal companies version of DRM to control their money intake of multiplayer games, if I cant play it in the woods in the dark, I'm not buying it

People now complaining that the game is Server and Online only ? Where you were last 2 years ? I mean this is nothing new, and the problems with servers are also nothing new, it was sayd too many times that no matter what it WILL have Server connection issues, no reason to rage about these things now...

Wow what a brilliant analogy! Surprised

I'll just wait for the next non-blizzard release that requires always on internet to see if some of the folks here on this thread keep singing the same tune...
