I think you may actually be right. Indeed, when you take PC out of the equation, X360 and PS3 do look like the messiah of gaming hardware - after all, aside from handhelds, all that's left is the Wii.

even if his real means is about "what's really leads PC games"(which I believe he meant to say) its still flawed argument,you can't just ignore the fact that we are facing rise of indie games,which the PC platfrom is full of them,and some of them are more creative then most of the publisher stuff.

PC is biggest gaming plateform and that will never change... because every PC can run a web game or a low tech puzzle game, or a facebook game...
However, for AAA games, PC is now a niche... because most PC's are laptops with a shitty GPU. and very few desktop users have a high end GPU.
i'd be curious to know how many PC's worldwide (out of the massive desktop existing base) have a a GPU that has AT LEAST the power of a Nvidia GTX 260 card (which is already a FOUR years old card), this would help to identify the size of the potential market. Probably not so many compared to console base...

that tells us 20% of gamers have a better GPU than GTX 260, not that 20% of desktops have a descent GPU.
Steam has 40M accounts, that makes 8M "descent" PC's... (not so many "hardcore" gamers don't have a steam account)
Compare that to 64M PS3 sold, and 67M XBOX 360...
we are outnumbered ... that's a FACT : )

Seems that we are forgetting that the DS3 has a supercomputer CPU, so you'll need at least a six core processor to back that 7800/X1900...

I, for one, don't have a Steam account, there's no need for one when you pirate everything except for online games. I'd say that there are significantly more than only 8M decent PCs.

you, sir, speak a lot of truth and i agree with most of it. here's another sad example http://bf3stats.com/ even on 360, where it's mostly CoD kiddies, BF3 is more popular than on PC. and PS3... just destroys PC numbers when it comes to BF3. and this is stats for a game which most console derps "hate".

People are the same on pc and console. Buying someone a gaming rig with gtx670 doesn't make him pc gamer. It makes him a derp struggling to play any game Because You have to fuck around with options and drivers.
I am a pc gamer since 1997. I finished million games on pc. But since last 3 years that I own a 360, I can clearly see ... beware... that consoles are much better for gaming than pc. At least for developers.
You put in the disc and play. Yeah graphics are worse but whatever. Difference isn't that really big as for 6yo hardware. Bit less res, aa, af. Nothing ground breaking mostly.
The worst part is no mods tho. That thing only makes it worthawhile to still play on pc.
I know I am going to get bashed to death but that's the truth. Consoles are meant to play games. Developers have way easier time, developing games for it. You play. While pc advanced to that form from office machines.
If I would have to decide I guess I would still choose gaming rig I guess that my mind is fucked after so many years of playying on pc. All that time I rarely just installed the game and played it. Even when I had new rigs, games would crash and some options would have to be tweaked... So many hours spent configurnig options and tweaks for best fps. Overclocking, Searching a way around butcher bay not crashing every 20 minutes and so on.
While past 3 years was like a blessing. PLAY game. Nothing else. Finally a rest. It is like automatic and manual.
Idk.. it's one of those ethernal disscusions. I like both. Each one have it's pros and cons. Good thing there is still steam... Its pc only hope(and mmo). Too bad that now You don't own any game You own
This is stupidity Iam still planning on buying new 1,5k pc this year ! We will see what will I have to say about that topic then |
Let's just say that you have very low standards and you're happy with it. You found your perfect home in the console world, where you insert your disc, sit on the couch and pew pew all the things with the controller.
Nothing wrong with that of course, to each their own.  |

Haha fair enough . With your PC it's indeed really hard to enjoy the latest games (I've had a dual core+4870 until 5-6 months ago and it was really starting to become obsolete).
I admire your 'adaptation ability' though , I would never be able to fully enjoy games with a controller.
