Well, I don't argue that it would be nice to have the kind of control Dark3D provides and that blizzard should try and add in controls with restraints they feel are fine (how sharp, etc) and let players use that and stay away from 3rd party programs. For me though if they don't implement something like that I will not turn to a 3rd party app. Its your choice and your risk whatever scale you come up with you make the balance not me or anyone else.
just see thing and well .. skip it wtf is this ... where is my MUSIC where is my climate ... oh right they all left and created Torchlight...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2evIg-aYw8
music in Diablo was the only good motivation to continue and this new crap lacks it ...
I dont really think they will ban people using Dark3D, i think plenty people will use it, and they wont just go on Ban spree for some graphical mod, not worth the bad name they will get from doing it.
i`ve tried darkd3 in beta and after some hours playing i personally dont care bout it. swamps and locations around tristram are little bit foggy/blueish like but once you get into cathedral darkd3 becomes unnecessary.

A single-player game that won’t pause, and if you leave it running will boot you out and cancel your progress. That’s insane.

What a great thing to say! What an incredibly lucid statement! He’s completely correct. There are other games to play. Other games that, unlike Diablo 3, I’ll be buying.
And a note to Blizzard PR: suggesting people play other games than your own because yours will be deliberately inaccessible isn’t really selling it.
Sorry if this is common knowledge but anyone know what time the game will be unlocked for install, I remember reading it will be earlier then the play time (12:00am pst)

So just now you start complaining about online DRM in SP games? Or just because it's Blizzard doing it now?
Because SC2 has the same, it's not like it's the first time they are doing it.

Not true, thank fuck! If you play solo, with no other human characters in your game, you can pause whenever you like and there's no idle kick either. Again, thank fuck
@sausage
Naw, Epsi posted it <3 And Starcraft 2 *doesn't* have the same DRM. You can play SC2 offline with absolutely no problem mate, it has a specific offline mode, unlike D3 which requires internet 24/7 .. just like an MMO.

Well ok, they updated it a little, even tho enough games have it these days, and enough of us have stable internet these days.
I bet that most of us are online 24/7, 7 days a week.
So i don't see the problem here
Aslong as it is crackable, i really don't give a single fuck about such a thing.

Sadly D3 won't be crackable for a long-ass time, haha... yeah... that sucks My only gripe with always-on requirement is that I can't always guarantee my line will be stable. Downsides to radio-based net, I'm afraid
Thanks, Personally regarding DRM/Anti piracy it really feels its heading towards the Onlive type system and more and more of the game will require your internet connection until its feasible to host the game completely (this would require ISP's host the datacenters/rendering farms)
@sabin1981
so it became a MMO they way making moneyz crate Wold of Diablo... a MMO ... next stop World of Starcraft ... after Activison bought blizzard they games became shit and a proud example is Diablo 3 ... create a game on a know IP and find a way to create constant revenue stream from it
...next stop my brain will be chipped with constant DRM so the government will know when i will break the law , thank good for RELOADED anti scanners at lest those let me read books that the system banned

Which is definitely the future they are going for. Scott Miller from Apogee and alike talked about it in a podcast I saw and the future is cross-platform fully online hosted games with absolutely no data hosted on home systems. Cross platform as in the same game works on different levels across all your media components(TV, phone etc)
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

first game that had 24/7 drm was HALF-LIFE 2 but later it was cracked by script emulation ... oh the Ai synch errors ..ey ... then BIOSHOCK only 3 times activation limit drm ... install it 3 times and puff buy this game again
heh and they wonder why PC sales are declining when i can buy the same product without DRM , that i can play at anytime on my CONSOLE ... but yeah now the same shit drm will attack console too when it does i will just stop playing games and thats it , there are LOADS of old games i didn't finish so they will be enough to keep me entertained

I actually just signed up for onlive and tried it on my laptop. I assume your location can have a huge impact but as far as input lag. There was none for me, I was also on wireless which will only add to the lag. The graphics looked fine and eventually the graphics will look 1:1 with dedicated hardware and support a steady 60FPS.
why is everbody raging about the required internet connection? diablo is supposed to be played online,offline its just lame. back in the days i startet d2 offline, never completed the first act. just went straight into the onlinemode
b2t: hate the wait, hope the server are online before midnight tomorrow. afaik in case of wow addons and sc2 blizzard launched them a few hours early, so probably able to login around 10pm gmt
Gotta agree with sabin, back then I didn't play Diablo II online, because I hated the fact people could join my game and help me, I prefer to progress at my own pace and not rush the game.
But eventually then when I finished it in solo, I went on Battle.net, but this was really secondary.
Same for Diablo III, if it only had LAN, and no online play, I would be just as happy as I am now. I don't give a fuck about rushing the game with unknown guys What I am really saddened now more than anything is Blizzard removing LAN from their games... Give me LAN mode over Battle.net anytime.
