This smells of the Bloodbowl release. First you get a quarter of a game, then nearly a game and finally this september the full game with a (hopefully) minimum of bugs.
I had more fun playing the demo (optimizing strategy etc.) than now I got the full game.
And does anyone have a unit overview - like what is needed to build Dracoliches, stats etc.
There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

I have played a few rounds now and I really enjoy it.
It doesn't have a terrible amount of depth when you in essence can build every race's creatures pretty easily by getting the towns. Somewhere along the lines I would have liked some restriction on captured towns and such.
My main concern is probably the pretty small size of even the XL worlds, but I'm a sucker for extreme sizes.
Now, back to attacking with my levitating invisible Black Minotaurs.

For me it's a nice passtime before D3. I think fall from heaven for Civ4 is much better, but I've played that so many times now...
With some anti-cityspamming mechanic it would be even better.

When they put in mouse&keybinding, tons more hotkeys, permanent defense toggle to remove some tedium and repetition, selectable victory conditions, stuff to build on water so I don't have to reload 10 times to not get planted next to an ocean/or do the whole 'settler+warrior' thing from civ, etc etc.. Then I'll buy it.
In this state, it's just cumbersome and annoying and not worth a buck and a half. Hopefully, the devs will be active and patch it up to enjoyable before starting the dlc-spam.

Huh. I don't know what's going on. This game looks good and everything but it simply isn't working. When I launch it, it hangs for about a min, I have to swap in and out to get it to load.
After that, when I go to construct a building, it highlights the hex I can build in but clicking on the hex itself doesn't do anything. No building is constructed. I can't zoom in or out or scroll the screen either.
I'm playing with the RELOADED updated release. Did I do something wrong maybe?

This triangle dilemma of one-turn defense together with the unfortunate wake-up of sentry mode if neutral units are nearby and missing hotkeys is indeed unbelievably silly. How could they have missed such tedious gameplay issue?
I admit I’m also one of these pathetic turn-based gamers who need a good start location with resources. That takes a shit while to happen until you are happy here. It’s strange that the game memorizes your set color but not any other of your last wizard perk settings when you start a new game. Oh hell, oh well.
It’s also noticeable that spamming settlers for new cities is unfortunately mandatory in the game. There doesn’t seem to be a drawback from having too many cities too early.
I don’t get it, but isn’t there a way to raze buildings? The game still had a raze-building mode button on the lower building-menu next to the show-all one but it vanished with the day-0 patch. It didn't work then anyway, but this feature is really, really necessary, no, mandatory!
When I click on the building-icons, it makes a raze-sound but strangely enough also increases cost. Eh what?
Anyway, there are still two things which are tremendous improvements over certain other turn-based games:
- You can build buildings and units at same time. Wow, yes, finally a fast game flow!
- It took a while to notice - thanks to the miserable manual and advisor - but you can actually buy all these nifty enhancements from each city to proper units afterwards. The menu is the golden arrow in the portrait. That means you don’t necessarily need a super-city with many resources at same time to make it the only worthy unit-production place. Of course, it’s cheaper to produce units in such cities with many enhancements, but you can remedy this problem with enough cash later.
With only a little polish, in particular fixing this defense mode issue, I think the game is already a worthy successor of the great Master of Magic game. What is also still missing are those recruitable/summonable hero units. These were the most fun part of MoM.

Any noticeable improvements? There are no patch notes to find so far. According to official board, the Unity spell should be (always/more often) available now.
Any new hotkeys? (punch them all to figure them out!)
Does sentry mode still wake up units if neutral ones are nearby?
Can you raze buildings now? (reappearance of the button in city screen)

Does it matter?
The only question that matters is: Is it fun?

Still nowhere near the Fall From Heaven II mod for Civ4, but in the light of the latest releases, this looks like a masterpiece.

Wow - it looks like Spell of Unity CAN be disrupted by a basic disrupt spell. How the flying fuck do they expect anyone to win with this victory condition if all the opponent has to do is spend 100 mana to disrupt it and kiss the 5000 mana you spent on starting to cast it goodbye?
Whoever was behind this design decision needs to get his face slammed into shards of glass, repeatedly.

Known bug. Happens if you alt-tab out of the game in fullscreen mode. No big deal.

I alt-tab often but only happend once.
Are there plans to add an option to change/disable the victory conditions?
My last game ended in 149 turns and i found out it has something to do with the victory conditions, but i have no idea how to prevent that the next time.

No word yet from devs about victory conditions, but a lot of people asked for them on their forum. I do hope they'll add them in the next patch.
Your game ended probably because one of your opponents cast Unity spell. I read on their forum you can cast Counterspell to prevent Unity spell.
It's also possible you defeated an Avatar one of the gods. That is another victory condition.

I usually prefer the conquer-only condition either in TBS. This can turn the session more easily into an endless one where you can decide when to end or not by leaving the AI alone.
Let's hope the devs make their mind about this.
