Ah, the wonders of a catholic university
Now he's talking about transsexualism, and he says that
"without the body of a man, you cannot feel like a man. A woman cannot feel like a man if she doesn't have a beard, moustache. Same as a man cannot feel like a woman without breasts. You can't feel like a woman trapped in a man's body. Same as you can't feel like a bird without a beak, wings, or feathers. Transsexualism is wrong!"
And yeah, this douche is anti-abortion, anti-euthenasia, anti-homosexual, anti-contraception and doesn't believe in evolution. This is the first person I have ever met who doesn't believe in evolution. Tragic.
It's not even that he has these kind of beliefs, but he just doesn't see the other side at all. Abortion is wrong in ALL CASES. Euthanasia is wrong ALWAYS etc. What a fucking idiot.

Yeah, but how can you TEACH ETHICS and not see that things like transsexualism or abortion are in a very grey area? You cannot simply say if it's WRONG or RIGHT.

catholic university
Mine is left winged and totally unreligious which would be quite awesome BUT, the previous idiot rector had the brilliant idea to evade taxes for several years, and now the whole university is totally debt-laden. People say the amount of debts is ~250 million euros. lol Italy

I never understood ethics courses (had one for a month) since almost all of the subject matter is extremely subjective and personal. How the hell can someone be a teacher in ethics? How does that work? Wouldn't it mean his ethical understanding is absolute and that yours, as a student, sucks?

Management engineering (though I'm not sure it's the correct English equivalent since each university has its own features and unique offering of programs).

Probably by bringing up ethics throughout the history, how it's changed, how to define ethics, what "rules" apply to different schools of ethical writing etc...

Typical Scholastic, Thomistic or Neo-Thomistic point of view. They really try hard to reinstate their medieval crap.

That would be the exact contrary to what you, as an ethics teacher, are supposed to do. When my students ask me what my position is, I rarely tell them, because I dont want to influence them with my opinions and viewpoints. (Some cases need answers though, but it's kind of delicate). In school we differenciate ethics from morals (which is kind of arbitrary but it works) and say that ethics is the reflexion on moral values and different ethical approaches. f.e.: teleological ethics (Aristotle), deontological ethics (Kant, Jonas), eudaimonistic, existentialist etc. etc. Also we try to teach them how to make an argument and how to understand or respect different opinions. I let them have their opinion, I just want them to argue it properly. It's difficult, as a teacher, to stay completely neutral, of course, but we try.

Exam was super easy. 4 super short questions. Definitely couldn't write my actual opinion though.
