Piranha has the IP right now, so that kind of matters what PB thinks.
The question is: will they make a new Gothic game, or will adopt Risen and totally forget about Gothic.
Jowood had the rights to make a few games in the Gothic universe, but none of those are considered canon or as related with the main series (Gothic, Gothic2+Night of the Ravens and Gothic 3 are canon).

On 1 April JoWooD marketing manager Clemens Schneidhofer confirmed the new name to GamersGlobal.de: "I can confirm that! Because the date of the release is already defined (more details soon in a press release), we decided to leave the working title "Arcania – A Gothic Tale" behind and to announce the final name "Arcania - Gothic 4". This change is available for all countries (EU & US)."
|
"Arcania: A Gothic Tale" was a working title, the final - global - name is Arcania: Gothic 4.

They really need a better graphic engine. The one they've got never worked properly.

It´s a shame that although the journey through these games is always amazing... the ending is always a letdown.
Just finished Risen 2 and the ending was just another anticlimactic POS Gothic ending like every other one till now.

I'd give it a 4 out of 10. When i played gothic2 i was terrified, scared, cautious, intrigued by everything in the game starting from the first wolf mobs to the tough mercenaries to the orc area that seems unapproachable at first. With Risen1 i could relate to that nostalgic feeling but now with Risen 2 and its pirates.. nothing but yawns and tears of boredom

I remember all that from Gothic 2, one time I was searching for goodies in a forest and heard a noise, I spun around and it was a skeleton, I nearly shit myself, they were tough bastards at my level and I ran about a quarter of the map just to get away from it
I never did finish Risen, I guess that doesn't matter as this game sounds far removed from the original

but did you guys ever think that maybe WE grew up and are not so easily scared/impressed anymore ?
I mean, isn't it normal for childhood experiences to be recalled as being more intense given that a particular situation/emotion was experienced for the first time ?...

you r right though , first experiences are always more intense , doesn't really matter what that experiences are real life/gaming/movies/whatever and being young everything looks more awesome than actually is.
So yeah you are right

Antigua or what it was called, you get the Silver Iron there which is the best single-shot pistol in the game, need to hit eight targets.
(Also again, merchants restock between acts and there's four acts but it's a bit vague when the game changes them, I've somewhat linked it to each of the four artifacts but it's probably not quite that straightforward, that's how I got some of the current items I had no idea you could get outside of console commands earlier, powerful gear although if you already have the custom "legendary" blades you're mostly set since clothing and similar barely changes but you get some really nice swords, pistols and crafting schematics that way.)
Also again (I seem to keep repeating this.) a earlier preview mentioned how the mini-game scales with the difficulty level so playing on easy is significantly easier.
(Or you can enable test mode and put the game in slow motion if you just want to win, ha ha.)

Not on Tacarigua, the Antigua one.
And yes, I won it ;P I have no save from the convo ( you have to buy it for 1000 gold anyway, winning only lets you do it ), so here's a screen from the "Completed quests" page:

They scale? Oh, I played on normal. It's not that hard to get even all of them.

That "french" pistol vendor guy, talk to the smith (Whom won't really be of much help otherwise.) and then talk to the guy again and the option should present itself.
EDIT: You should get two pistols, one called "Name's" Pistol (Mac was it?) and one called Silver Iron.
(Smith's pistol looks identical but it's weaker.)
