We just learned this week that one of the pioneering forces of both the freemium pay model as well as real-time online multiplayer, Eliminate, will be closing up shop later this month. Well according to RockBandAide.com right on the heels of that news it looks as if EA Mobile will be giving the same treatment to the original Rock Band [ $4.99 ] iOS game, which we thought was pretty good when it launched towards the end of 2009.
The original Rock Band was usurped by the superior sequel Rock Band Reloaded [$4.99 / $9.99 (HD)] in December of 2010, so it’s not totally surprising that EA would want to focus on the newer version. However, for a game that many people have likely spent a good chunk of cash on by buying new songs through IAP, not to mention that it launched at $9.99 to begin with, it seems sort of crazy that EA would flat out make the game inoperable.
At the very least you would think that EA would be able to just leave the original Rock Band alone, so those who bought it and paid for IAP songs can continue to at least use it even if future updates aren’t in the cards. Perhaps there’s a reason for this, like a licensing issue with the music, but at any rate if you’re still a fan of the first Rock Band on iOS you’ll have until May 31st to continue enjoying it.

Yet another tale of how EA is naught but a fucking cancer and should be dissolved. Where the fuck is the consumer protection in America? You all like to sue each other at the drop of a hat... but when a huge company like this bends you over and fucks you in the ass on a daily basis, where are all the lawsuits then?? God fucking damn it, I don't even HAVE this fucking game but this news just makes my god damned blood boil! What fucking right does EA have to remotely shut down a product YOU have PAID for? Including paying the exorbitant costs for all the extra DLC and songs? What fucking right do they have??

Well. I will bite.
You already bought expensive headset (Iphone). It's obvious that joe the plumber will pay for everything including DLC's and extra songs and will not complain because of apple store.
I am not sure if joe the plumber is aware of who makes those games at all. And how evil EA is like Apple.
But I have yet to see joe the plumber sue a gaming company. You only hear gaming compaies sueing other gaming companies.
I feel bad for all of the people who bought game and songs for extra $$$. They probably will not be recompesated in anyway, quite a shame but it is EA we are talking about it.
But maybe if it gets more media attention then...it will go away unnoticed

it will get media attention and it won't go anywhere. they have a perfectly good reason why they're shutting it down, so anyone who'll go after them will meet the whole team of uber lawyers and will be met with a law suit for wasting their time.
It seems like it's a server closure, it won't stop the app from working... just can't play online no more.

Excuse excuse excuse. It says nothing about servers, so do you have a source for that claim? Why are you defending EA when you know for a FACT that they're utter bastards and what they're doing is wrong?

You can't even buy the game on the appstore any more, so I call bullshit on it being "an error" - this was methodically planned and the only reason they're backpeddling now is because of the outcry over it. Fucking EA... what a disgusting cretinous company.
