let me try again, for the last time. maybe you will understand.
atm diablo lore is not at the same level of bullshit that is wow lore. (even if wow books were a pleasant read vs what is in game).
you were never in the position to kill diablo. nor in 1, nor in 2.
for the first time in diablo series, in d3, you could have a chance to kill him, on his true form.
but still, if they stick to the existed books (what i read, unless i'm missing something), you still canot kill him. is a prime evil, and you can only banish him to abyss, or whatever the name was. is not a 2012 thing, is probably at least 10 years old. so as long as they stay on track with the lore from years ago, they could make diablo 999999 with diablo endgame boss, and still that can make sense from old lore pov.

From what I remember, and bear with me I might be wrong. Diablo and his brothers were cast out of the Abyss by the three (or four) lesser evils to Sanctuary, in this world, they were in the form of spirits causing havoc and destruction.
The Horadrim order was formed, they chased the rampaging demons, emprisonned them into soulstones and buried them deep underground.
Diablo was sealed deep under the cathedral of Tristram, he whispered to king Leoric, trying to corrupt him but after it failed, he corrupted his son, leading him straight to him and possessed his body through the soulstone.
The hero in Diablo 1 sent to destroy Diablo was slowly being corrupted as he descended into the depths of the cathedral. He ultimately killed Diablo, returning his spirit to the soulstone, but then, corrupted in turn, the hero pierced his skull with the soulstone, freeing Diablo once more into a much stronger body.
The hero became the dark wanderer, set on a journey to free his brothers. A new hero rose and subsequently killed all the prime evils and destroyed their soulstones, sending back their spirits to the Abyss where Azmodan and Belial are now ruling.
Now in Diablo 3, a dark star fell from the sky, and Diablo is back in sanctuary without a soulstone apparently.

It's great isn't it Pey? I used that filter throughout the beta (Effect/Sharpening/Normal) and it's fantastic, I simply won't play the game without it. It's based off the same FXAA shader injector that many of us use on other games, specifically ixigia's custom settings he made for Amalur Reckoning -- and I use it on every DX9 game I have ^_^ No way I could go back to how it was previously.[/list]

You know you can do the same thing with your monitor....or tv..
Adjust sharpness.. or enable edge sharpen (tv)..

yeah my monitor-hdtv has such a function (edge sharpen), so i can play D3 in all its over sharpened glory without fear of bans, but i just don't like it.

finally ordered the game lol. 64.90CHF, free delivery (and they usually deliver day 1 or even before) + they sell on credit (bill) ^^.
Thats 54€, boxed version, wont get cheaper here hehe (and i dont care, its worth it imho).

I do agree that story in an hack and slash rpg is not a major selling point. But story not that good in diablo 1 & 2, why? Especially diablo 1, such an amazing game story and atmosphere wise.
And no I'm not gonna buy diablo 3, I'm one of the few that actually cares.
