Here's a hint for gouls, just land a first power hit, then just connect power hits and they won't be able to counter back. It's a bit tricky when there's more then one, but much easier then mashing LMB.

Aye, I've started to make full use of a musket lately. Wicked powerful!

Muskets become even better once you get a double barreled version.

Can you still use firearms if you choose the natives? I mean as backup weapons, don't really care if you can learn more stuff about them or not.

Does anyone know how to play the game in Windowed Mode, if there even is a way to do it.

ONLY as backup weapons (ie; E button for pistols and small arms) but not as primary. At least, as far as I know. I took the Inquisition route and got myself a kick-ass Shotgun (well, it's CALLED Seaman's Shotgun but it's actually a Musket class) so I don't know what else you lose by siding with Voodoo/Natives.

Open C:\Users\YOURNAMEl\AppData\Local\Risen2\Config\ConfigUser.xml and look near the top, set fullscreen to "false" and you'll be in windowed mode.

I know pistols are not included when you take that choice. What I don't understand is, do the natives kill you or something if you use a firearm? I hate the Inquisition so I sure as hell won't choose them the first time I play the game.

The game bugs are Piranha Bytes true Trademark. Not Gothic, nor Risen, but game bugs...

No, but if you choose to side with the natives then you can't side with the Inquisition and thus you won't be able to acquire a primary firearm. I don't know whether there will be other shotgun/musket vendors later in the game, but up until this point nobody but Webster has sold them -- and he only sells them to people the Commandant approves.

I doubt that absolutely all the firearms are obtainable only through vendors, so that's ok for me.

The game is actually not bad at all, aside from the various graphical bugs/glitches/characters suddenly disappearing only to reappear 5 minutes later and the rather clunky combat which I still don't particularly enjoy I'd say it's pretty solid.
The devs nailed the mix atmosphere-characters-dialogues imo; and the world seems to be pretty interesting too, full of surprises and open to exploration as the PB tradition wants it. All it needs is some serious patching, since the game itself is a (very) rough gem

You mean the Community will patch it to death. Piranha didn't make a good patching job on any of their games (and, yes i add here G1 and G2)
But, yeah! No worries!

I bought a Shotgun in Ticaragua (1st Island) and can use it as a main weapon just fine right from the beginning. I would be surprised if you can't use firearms and voodoo together.

I'd say more like 2020. Maybe Risen 1 in 2015.

Just finished the game. Tip: Skip range weapons if you like a challenge.
And a few achievements stayed locked even though i did the requirements :/
Spoiler: | What the fuck was that Mara fight? Dropped hear in 10+/- shots and got hit only once. Ranged really makes this game way to easy, but on the other hand, melee is fucking retarded and makes it unnecessary hard. |

How long did it take? And is there a decent amount of content towards the end or is it like in Risen 1?

It's not like the first risen where you go through ruins all over the place towards the end, no. And i have 41 hours played. Have been away from the computer at times so i don't know how long it really took me.

reading all those pages, having a great laught. i just can wait to get back in town and play risen 2. sounds really like in good old times. actually from reading, sounds even better than risen 1, even if i'm not a fan of pirate themes. hope i will not be disappointed.
you know what pb means to me ?
i played notr until i finish it with a fucking german -> english dictionary next to me, and getting a friend who lives in germany insane with questions almost every night.
pb was the only developer who manage to make me do this.
hell, i even got a job at ibm with the german i learned.
went to an interview with another ~50 people, and for the end, they asked me if we can talk a bit in german (they dint mention this on the required skills, so i dint even prepare for it), and for my surprise, i manage to talk a bit, so i got the job.
