It doesn't even look 3 years old, Risen 1 was far prettier - especially the lighting and texture detail - and ran great. It's like Arcania; god awful performance with unjustifiable visuals.

I like how a GTX680 gets you The Samaritan ... or 60fps in Risen 2 Very Happy

Looks like it could be pretty damned fun. Do you know the timeframe of it? Does it run alongside the show/books or prior?

I really don't know how they accomplished that. From what I saw in one of the playthroughs, the game still looks fun, but while performance can be fixed with a patch, the overall look of the game is quite generic compared to first game.

ps Great story is what we love the most in Piranha's games. All reviews say story is still good and designed smilar to previous PB's games. Major disadvantes considered by reviewers are mechanics and graphics (like in G1, G2, Night of the Raven; not for me - fan of PB's mechanics and graphics). Improvements in these two spheres and votes surely would be higher.

The stories were always pretty much just decent in their games, but at the same time very well executed. That matters more to me and it's the same thing with Risen 2 from what I understand.

And exactly when did Piranhas start to properly patch their games, eh?

Remember Risen 1? Unofficial patch creator had to reverse-engineer tools to remove problems it would have taken them a moment to fix. Those were maybe small things in a generally bugfree game, but still the notion stands.

Gothic 3 had to be fixed by a whole team of fans( although that may have been Jowood's fault ). Gothic 1 and 2? Great games, but also had their share of glitches.

HOPE dies last, remember? Very Happy And I already said in one of my previous posts that fans will fix it if PB doesn't as was the case with G3 and Risen 1.

Why are reviews saying ~30 hours? PB promised several times that the game would be around 50% bigger than Risen Sad

I heard it's "up to 5 hours". Still, the most complete version is the Steelbeard's edition which also includes the Temple of Air DLC. So that's basically the ONLY complete version of Risen 2. And it's only available in German-speaking countries.

I've always enjoyed PB stories (Ok, G3 didn't have much) - because they're plausible and down-to-earth. The characters do things I can understand and relate to, and the dialogues are natural and the opposite of "Hollywood" speak.

I'm playing Mass Effect 3 currently, and it's so sickeningly melodramatic with ever-more extreme characters and events. Well, I just started it - but Mass Effect 2 was like that. Bioware are just not my cup of tea in terms of writing.

I'm struggling to maintain interest for more than 30 minutes at a time. The game is like 45% samey melodramatic dialogue and 45% samey filler combat. The remaining 10% is what I like - which is: a tiny bit of exploration, upgrading weapons and characters, seeing new areas, reading logs, etc.

PB games are MUCH more my style.

That said, it seems Risen 2 is a step in the wrong direction - based on the beta and several reviews.
