Yeah, there's still a beta that continues until the 5th of May, I think, but it's only for people that actually have beta accounts.

ive played every class using 2h beta time from swagvault several times, ive played around 22h on open weekend beta and now i`ve preordered from site which grants 3h beta access - this game is fcking addictive, for sure it still has that 'just one more lvl/skill/dungeon' thing from d1-d2 times.

So there are ni towns or stuff to socialise? Oh and basically yo mark yourself as LFG and people join to do instance?

Diablo is predominantly a story and loot driven game, it's really not comparable to online RPGs. What makes Diablo multilplayer, for the most part, is co-op -- you and a few buddies team up to kill and loot everything in sight Very Happy Someone more familiar with Diablo MP can explain it better =)

Since you're comparing to WoW : Imagine if every server in WoW had a limit of 4 players.
And when playing the game, you had the choice between joining a server made by someone else, or creating your own.
That's closer to how Diablo works.

Also, the game doesn't have heroic dungeons like WoW and the game doesn't stop you from accessing areas based on your gear.
The game is closer to being a succession of long quest chains.

You will only see players if they are in your server. If they are, you can play with them and will see them all the time. If players are not in your server, you don't see them at all. There's a max of 4 players per server.

First off, get that WoW crap out of your head. Seriously.. stop comparing it with everything Laughing

But I'll give it a try in your language.

WoW is almost entirely based on Diablo's formula. Item and character progression. Except it has a way bigger world, playercount and has it's socializing part that comes with it. It also forces you to team up with people to be able to play the game in it's full entirety.

Diablo has a smaller world, that's (for Diablo 3 just partly) randomly generated and is all about character and loot progression. There are quests, events and propably some secrets too (just google for "Diablo 2 Cowlevel" if you wan't to know what I mean with secrets). But honestly, the focus is more on the loot than anything else. You can also play it alone or with friends/strangers. To do this, you'll have a friendslist (to open parties of a maximum of 4 players, from start to finish or you/friends can just jump in) or an matchmaking/serverbrowser kind of thing for publicly open games.
The major difference between the two is that you don't need other people to make progress like you're forced to in WoW. Also, you don't have pay monthly fees. You don't have to farm your ass of or something keep save your seat in the raid or something like this since it's all there, waiting for you to take it. You're completely free.
Storywise, Diablo has a beginning and an end. + You'll unlock more difficulty levels after each beating. But it never really ends since there is loot with such a low droprate that you'll never get them all. At least the chances are pretty low. But these chances will keep you playing if you dig it. Ontop of that, the Diablo games have their unique pace and feel. No other ARPG ever managed to completely mimic it. Titan Quest is one of the few that came very close.
Diablo always made you feel and see you're character becoming more powerful with every item you get. Ever went to Scarlet Monastery, Cathedral part, or any other low level instance with one of your maxlevel WoW characters, pulled every mob and wrecked havoc on them? Exactly! That's how Diablo has always been for me. You're not whacking for minutes on the same mob like in WoW. You're fighting dozens and they die pretty fast. And they die in even bigger quantities and faster if you get better gear. That's why it's an Action-RPG. And there always will be that one items that makes you even more powerful. You just have to find it Laughing (Or trade, buy it with ingame money or real money from the auction house. Which is just a menu and not a place you'll actually go ingame).

So, in both games you'll actually do the same shit over and over and over... the goal is the one you've set yourself.

What makes Diabo, Diablo?

In co-op you can basically play the whole game from start to finish, together with four friends. It scales in difficult too for every player that join, so it will always be a challenge. One of the best co-op seasons I had was with Diablo 2 and three other friends. Smile

Thanks guys that helped a lot. So lets say i start a monk, play it to max level (what is it?), and then go to multiplayer and do dungeons? I mean im confused, will i be in group with top geared player or? Or are servers restricted to level of character? And are servers also sorted by dungeons, or do you get to joon random group doing random dungeon?

Mind Is Full Of Fuck Somehow I get the feeling that WoW destroyed your mindset beyond repair.

There are no instances or realms like in WoW. If you start a game in Diablo3, than you're (somewhat) the server and people/friends can just join you or you can join other people's games. Or you play alone.

Level cap is 60. There is no PvP at release. You can start a game with a level 1 character and a friend will be able to join the game even with his level 60 character.

Just watch this lol wut playing it. Even though, he knows propably more about Diablo than you do. And believe me, if DSP knows more than you about a game... that's shameful.

@ Pipili
Basically when someone starts a game, you could say an instance of the complete game world is made. Spanning from ACT1 to ACT4 or whatever, the complete game, including every area and any dungeon.

and when you cleared out "your world", you just start another game-server and do it all over again (hoping more interesting loot will drop)

And also you can play campaign in coop, also hoping something good will drop. And you play this over and over again, either alone or wit 3 other people...? Am i closer now? Very Happy

Yes. You do the same stuff over and over again, hoping for better loot or even challenge when starting a game with the higher difficulties.

Oh, and you aren't forced to play with 3 other people. You can do 2,3 or 4 player co-op.
Doesn't matter. Enemies automaticly (in real time) getting stronger/weaker the more/less people you are (also drop chances/rates).

There's cooldown on potions, no insta tp and no insta-quit on normal.

umm.. duh? Obviously the stakes are higher in hardcore with permadeath. You cant just alt-f4 like you could in D2 if you hit a multishot, lightning enchanted mob. Regular mode you can be resurrected by a party member and be back in action in 5 seconds.

I'm pretty tired recently. I misunderstood the meaning of the whole sentence. My fu mind somehow deducted that you mean that those features are on hardcore mode only. Sorry.
