Finished the beta as a Witch Doctor with 3 randoms.
It's Diablo alright. And it's fun. But it's not "enough" fun for me to warrant a pre-order / release day buy. Then again I never quite understood the appeal of multiplayer in Diablo 2 either.
I enjoyed it but not as much as people made it out to be.
And I had some really weird fps drops at times. Nothing on screen and all of a sudden I'm creeping along at 10fps O.o

Online SP isn't SP.
I'm not only comparing D3 to WoW : StarCraft 2 isn't an MMO and yet it gets at least 2 expansions, with the game divided into 3 pieces, something that old Blizzard would never do.
Blizzard are just money whores nowadays like Activision and as long as it sells, it's good enough for them... And imagine this, this is coming from a Blizzard fanboy that bought all their games (but stopped after WoW vanilla)....

I'm still hoping it will be cracked and be moded as much as possible,I'm buying it,but even blizz/Diablo team deserve some "slap",I really don't like that close as possible approach,this is Apple way.

few years later : "we waited 10 years, and it looks like this ? we are in 2012 ffs."
replace diablo with starcraft 2, fireaxis xcom, and other promising good old times remakes in work or released in the past or in the future.
and you wonder why developers works on dx999999 gfx instead of gameplay or story.

I played for a couple of hours on the beta and I'm a bit disappointed.
If you're talking about the looks then yes it doesn't look good enough. Not because of the GFX but because it lost its look. It looks too much like world of warcraft. It's definitively not grim enough. Even the music is too dim and not grim.
Diablo's 1 music still plays in my head and it's a lot better than this one's.
The game just lost its character.
The lags and the stupid network dependency is just making it a bit worse.

The graphic is not that important for most people. BUT it is worth mentioning that it doesn't look like a game from 2012. That is not bitching, its just stating fact, but won't really matter gameplay wise. So don't try to make a problem out of nothing.

Game looks fine, but from what i seen i dont see reason, why this shouldnt be released year or two ago. That happens when you have shitload of money and no pressure to finish game asap. I hope that microstuttering i experienced will be fixed in retail version.

Insurrection.
Retribution.
That's 3 add-ons, one more than SC2 has planned. Haven't heard of Insurrection and Retribution? That's because they sucked and were cash-in made by other developers, while allowed by Blizzard.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go back to playing Starcraft : Ghost on a console.

The only downside of this game is the lack of Paladin and Druid as a playable classes.
