It's the only game I wanna pay for (and so I did months ago), because the community is great AND the devs are listening to the players.
The game is:
Fun
Updated very frequently
The best (IMO) online racer around

In theory, every game you download and play, you should later buy.

By playing the game, means you like it. Why would you play something you dont like?

Does the game feature visual car damage?
I've seen some lfs2 pics where a dynamic car damage modelling system was shown, but its not listed the feaures of lfs2 alpha release...

It's not great, it's just model deformation and it doesn't affect the car itself - only tires and suspension have 'damage' modelling.
It's a great game though, it's just a pity I hate lugging out the steering wheel and clamping it down, then bring out the pedals and position them correctly, then when i've had enough unclamp it, remove the pedal base and put it all away in order to actually use my desk.

Some people play these games with the mouse, keyboard and joysticks. I'm not one of them, it doesn't make me faster neccessarily - but it's all part of the experience (especially with force feedback).

It's got good mouse controls actually, use the mouse to steer the wheel.

Wheel's the only way to go, and force feedback is a must. The level of immersion increases substantially(sp).

This game is the most realistically feeling driving game I have ever played and I have played them ALL from Gran Turismo, Forza to Grand Prix Legends to GTR Racing!
The feel ...the actual FEEL of being in a car and driving it is so damn REAL...I may just go out and BUY the damn licence if someone doesnt come out with a crack soon cause I really want to experience all the different cars in this game
And its only gonna keep getting better as they work on it!

Are you kidding??? A license for LFS 2 alpha is 52$ CAN...thats the price of full retail games here.

if it was cheaper, then yes, i may have bought a license. But 40 dollars or so is NOT cheap for a game by anyones standards.

Well, it's actually £12 here for each license. I bought my S1 license a year ago for that price, and upgraded it a month or so ago for an extra £12.
What you need to understand first is that with each license you get a whole lot of stuff, but not only that you get all the updates to go with it.
Further: even if you didn't upgrade to the S2 license you still have the S2 game - you just don't have the NEW cars or tracks, but all the old stuff is updated to the S2 license.
So no, it's not a rip off, it's very, very generous and if you enjoy the game you'd do well to support the developers as a result.
But to each his own. I like paying for stuff I think deserves it, but not everyone is the same.

do you have to pay for updates on retail games? no, i dont believe you do
and yes, i do agree that the S1 license is fairly reasonable
developers like THIS deserve support, but may do better to lower their prices for the full product, in my opinion, thats all

Updates on retail games hardly encompass the same level of support and feature inclusion that comes with this game, nor the same number - retail games have a cutoff point, that depending on the publisher/developer can range from NONE to one or two major patches (and very rarely do these retail game patch everything).
...also if you think £24 for the S2 license is expensive your living in an alternate universe. Most games cost £39.99 RRP. You're lucky to get something for £35.
As I said, the S1 license is ALL YOU NEED, the S2 license merely adds more tracks and vehicles. You don't need it to experience the latest features. S1 will suffice at the low, low, low price of £12.
This isn't like other games. You can't judge it on the same level as say Need For Speed or Gran Turismo. It's a simulation of racing on an entirely different level. If you had just one car, just one track, and nothing else it would still piss all over them.
