Read two of the books - was unimpressed. Now, fantasy is not really my cup of tea anyway, but ... it was simply very, very mediocre.

I read most of the first book ages ago, it was decent but it didnt impress me nearly as much as Tolkien's LOTR, i never bought the second book.. Love the TV-show though Smile

For those who have read the books, is there any major story or plot "things" missing from the TV series or has the TV series managed to covered the most?

I'm in the middle of Book 1 right now and enjoying it.
I heard Books 2 & 3 are the best and Books 4 & 5 are nothing but an exercise in stalling.
Is that true?

I bought that cheap toilet paper HBO box with the first 4 volumes so there is no way to stop right in the middle. I've gotta read all of them. Very Happy

Now, people will chop my balls of for this, but so far, I have enjoyed the movies more than the books (first two). I just think the quality is not that high in the books, it basically bores me. I have read a bazillion better stories, have read about a bazillion more interesting characters ... etc.

Usually it's the other way around.

There are movies ?!

I would be more surprised if everyone like his books, I enjoyed reading them, some more than others. For me it was different from what I normally read, and I like that, like to try different genre books and films, some are good some are bad, though I admit I have certain favourite genres.

I have a hard time figuring out how they are boring, then you must not like the political intrigues that happens as well as the feeling that no character is holy or sacred, and that pretty much everything can happen on the next page.

Interesting, considering that the tv show is obviously not that fleshed out comparing to the books Smile

I haven't read Book 5, but A Feast for Crows, Book 4 definitely isn't a bad read. It's different than the first three books because it has less tension and is sort of melancholic. So don't listen to the haters, people just expect every book to have non-stop action.

It's not about action, it adds very little to the overall story. Why would I want to read about some very minor characters?

i could watch this show for a year...

it is just me or this season is a bit slower than the first one? i know... two eps so far, but still i feel it slower. there are lost of new characters as well, that they try to express the storyline in a few minutes for each.

still, great show!
