so there won't be an actual release, just an enhanced edition patch to install over the original release? I've only seen mention of the 360 version as getting an actual disc release.
Here's some neat wallpapers for the enhanced edition (first two)

Makes things a LOT simpler. Enhanced patch for Witcher 1 was a real pain in the ass to install, it took almost two hours to complete (because it actually patched huge files, didn't overwrite it) and you needed to defragment the partition after that because the chaos the patch left after itself.

Since it's 10 GB I assumed they simply replaced the files here too instead of patching them.
(Since the game data file archive and the exe files along with the .dll files take up around 10 GB, mostly via that single archive at around 9.8 GB.)
EDIT: Probably it will be in the form of a installer though.

Does anyone else find it a little annoying that they always have to release an enhanced mode and then something else and then something else. I basically decided not to play the game after I bought it at release so I could wait for it to be "complete". Whilst I appreciate that they give us free stuff, at the same time I wish they would release the game in a complete state (I know it was complete but you know what I mean).
I hope they don't repeat this with Witcher III as well, part of me thinks I should just wait a year after they release it and then buy it.

oh no as a pc gamer im disappoint that the developers are continually updating a game i purchased to make it the best looking and the best playing game ever whilst adding new features and content. I hate that. I really do. I wish they did all that at first. I wouldn't mind waiting extra 2 years for actual release.

Game's very replayble, so the extra content means just another playthrough for most of us.

They made an outstanding game, drm free. There were some minor bugs, they fixed it. The community wasn't fully satisfied with the 3rd chapter, they're adding new contents for free.
It's much better when people release unfinished (crappy) games on purpose and sell the rest as dlcs leaving the bugs and bad gameplay aspects untouched because there's the sequel coming out 12 months later .. no ?

No. It's a great excuse to replay the game again.
And it's better that way, since then you can actually see the difference and appreciate new changes, if done well.

It seems everyone disagrees with me. I just don't have the patience to replay games, the one time I play through the game, I want it to be the best possible version. I haven't got round to playing Skyrim much either as I was waiting for patches and cool mods.

Everyone agrees with you on the fact that everyone hates incomplete games and dlc's, but that's not the case here. The game is complete already, but since they're gonna release an xbox version and microsoft probably bug them to had something new (like they always do), they took the money and the time to correct some issues with the 1st release, like the short 3rd chapter. And it's not like they're charging money for it like most companies do.

Having a peek at mine it seems I have French and German audio files for some reason (legit GOG version), which is 2GB I can free up.

waiting for the enhanced edition before I play this one
quick question: I read/watched somewhere that the different spells don't have a description or tooltip when you're browsing them in combat - just the cool-sounding name. Is that true, or are they adding descriptions in the EE version? Maybe it's just me, but leaving out the description seems a bit troll-ish, making things unnecessarily difficult.

It's just 6 spells with distinct effects, you'll know them by their icon placement even.

Aard: It's your basic Force push. Use it to stun enemies, blow them off cliffs/buildings, blow through weakened obstructions.
Igni: Fire. Use it to burn shit. Pretty straight forward.
Yrden: Magic traps. I never really used this it the first game, but it's an integral part to beating the first boss in TW2.
Quen: Forcefield/shield. Pretty important on higher difficulty levels.
Axii: Charm/mind control. I never used it in combat, but it shows up a few times as a dialogue option as an alternative to intimidation. Basically your Jedi mind trick approach.
