Good thing i managed to sell my account for around 90€ some weeks ago. Don't think you will get that much now, even if you have the best items.

But i'm a bit sad, that it flopped. As i love the Star Wars universe Sad

Got only 30€ for my acc last week and it was a endgame eq bh and a few twinks Laughing

I was hugely Hyped for this game, and after its release i found myself next week after release beeing hugely bored with it. I did not even got full level and quit, the boring questing OMG ! It was basicaly a voiceovered "go kill X" "use X Xtimes", horrible design, i was looking forward to it, but after first month i knew it was going to die within few months, it was undone at release, it lacked content and polish, and it lacked performance polish, game looked mediocre and runned bad on most of the PCs. And honestly after ME3 fail, i wont spend any money on EA/Bioware, not even on EA...

Im glad that i got special promotion and got Digital Deluxe just for 35€, otherwise i would be pissed off.

Kinda hard milking something thats dead Laughing

i say 4 months tops and its f2p, even if the population increseas tenfold it wont change a god damn thing the cities are all wastelands filled with noninteractive npcs just standing around or moving their lips making it look like they are actually conversing Laughing

i even ran into 4 npcs arguing and one of them was supposed to get killed (according to what they were saying) instead the VO ended and they just stood there Laughing

anyone who thinks this will turn into f2p "in the next couple months" has to be totally delusional.

even IF it will become f2p at some point, you can bet your ass that wont be before a couple years.

Anything else is just wishful thinking.

And doing less than expected and "dead" are 2 widely different things.

Well since it's pretty much bleeding players, it's either f2p or the game will die quickly which would be my preffered option.

Don't forget, that even if they are scraping the bottom of the barrel tomorrow, they will still keep it pay to play. They have to save face in front of the public. If they go f2p so soon, they would admit the painfully obvious defeat. And that's bad for company image.

I am really NOT interested in playing this game, f2p included. But mentioning "couple of years" of ToR lifespan is delusional.

F2P is one of the buzz-words in the industry, and there's a reason why - money. Valve makes a ton of money off of TF2, and there's a lot of other companies who have successfully gone F2P. Going F2P isn't a sign of defeat, it's a sign that the company is changing strategy, that's all. It actually makes a lot of sense - Subscription fee for the initial roll-out, and that covers the development costs. Then, create new content (whilst still in sub mode), and time the new content with going F2P - everything from that point on (excluding server costs and support teams) is profit.

Of course it makes sense. I'm a huge fan of games going F2P, both for myself and for the company. But EA is a dinosaur. It will take a while before they adapt. And there are a ton of people who would gleefully gloat at the failure of their P2P model. Myself included. Smile EA knows this and I have a feeling that they will try to save face by sticking to their model as long as they can, or even scrap the whole thing instead of budging.

I do not play, and do not intend to play this game.

But dead? How can you say rift and swtor is dead? Do you mean it won't and did not keep a hold of all the people who bought the game? True, but dead? How?

Rift is doing just fine, and I somehow expect swtor to do just fine even if the games does not have a million++ subs. I just can't figure out why people think a game is dead if it doesn't have a LOT of players.

I do think they where hoping for a bigger playerbase, swtor that is. And we could discuss it being a failure or not. But dead? I ask again, how?

Vanguard is still alive and going f2p, it has maybe only a few hundred to a thousand logged in at any current time(at least before the announcement of f2p) and its not dead. The number has supposedly risen since the announcement.

Rift really shouldn't be compared to this. It has a lot more features and is getting major updates every 2 months. And I also don't understand the F2P hate from the rabid TOR fanbase. How is having more people to play with is a bad thing?

monthly subscription MMO's is crashing market,or at least got it's limit line IMO. WOW manage to hold on but it's fading away slowly so will do with Rift,it's just a matter of time. at the point most of the new MMOS will be F2P with premium Stuff,I don't mind buy full game and it's expansions later on,but no monthly thank you.

I always have preferred pay to play games. I still do. Free to play games are nice, because you can play them anytime you want without paying anything, but, they are usually either grindy, or have a bad cash shop or are just generally bad quality. The reason why I prefer to play P2P games is because for 13 euros a month, I get EVERYTHING. I have access to every single thing in the game and I can do whatever I want. While in an F2P game, you don't. Even if you pay real money for some stuff, you still do not have access to everything like you do in a P2P game even though you just paid 10-20$. That's why I prefer P2P games.

I agree.
F2P games leech more money from you than you will overwise spend on it while beeing P2P, in small sums now and then. Its evil and its playing on peoples spendings, people will spend less money more often rather than one time huge payment.

nice argument but I disagree,

while you have points, though, but most times in MMO you didn't really got "everything" for fees. Everquest and WOW for example got lots of expansion packs which you still need to pay another cash, while you keeping the monthly fees.

lots of F2P MMOS these days are actually MMOS that were P2P,and probably more to come(looking at SWTOR),I do believe GW was very balanced in thet terms, only 3 expansions, sure,it has Micro stuff, but I don't think at the level of what you are paying in P2P

I like how league of legends handles the problem - f2p and you can't buy any advantage for real $, only visuals (skins) and faster access to stuff you can get for playing for free.
