|
 |
Ok, so I have a HDD here that has 2 partitions, one is a bootable Win7 partition, the other one for data storage.
Now I want to put that HDD in another PC, that already has another working and booting HDD inside. Obviously I don't want the HDD I put in to interfere with the other booting HDD.
Now I could just delete that partition, but I want to be able to put that first HDD back in the other PC sometime and not have to reinstall everything.
So is it possible to somehow disable the one partition that boots or some other way to make it not interfere with the booting process?

Even when you use the boot selection popup? Usually the button for that is F11.

You can remove the bootable flag using gparted. - http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
Dunno if it requires a format though
i would look for other options myself, but to each their own.

No need for this.
As said, you just have the drive you want as a first boot device set as first boot device.
And you will be able to access the other HDD no probs.

And he has said his old mobo does not offer that (although I find that strange)
So I am pointing out another possible option.
