Yeah I've got about 10 hours so far and I'm enjoying it a lot. Mildly addicted already. The devs aren't just active in the forums, but also in global chat answering lots of noob questions. They are very devoted to the game. I seriously hope they can make it a financial success and continue to keep the game in perpetual development (as they said was their intention to do). That would kick ass.

Really liking this so far, visually it's really impressive, and it had pretty good production values for a F2P game.
Though as others mentioned there are some nitpicks
- no narrative support, just blah blah blah, do that and that's that, some cutscenes and especially voice acting would really benefit the game.
- some balacing issues, once you meet a new type of enemy, they usually gang up on you from nowhere and if you're ill equipped, you're dead
- a better map, it's really hard on the eyes and difficult to get through, and another thing, once you've explored all the map, if should be left explored and not be unexplored again if you revisit the level
- level warning for each new territory, like 'recommended level X for Y location' or something like that

Quote: | Most of the story is unveiled in Act Three. There are major improvements to Act One and Two planned which will tie the plot together so that the player has a much clearer idea what is going on. We're going to try to get these changes reflected in the Beta soon.
Little of the eventual dialogue is in-game yet, and none of it is voice acted (but it will be). In the short term we plan to make the start of the game more engaging, so that the player has more direction and understanding of what’s going on.
The chat options when talking to NPCs are currently pretty simple and will be updated. Chat topics will have “new” next to them if you haven’t heard them before. |

So, i'm guessing once they release the 1.0 final version you'll have to start from scratch, right?

i think so , after you complete chapter 2 there's nothing to do just restart chapter 1 to a greater difficulty (just to be able to lv) after the final release they will add the rest of chapters and those who complete chapter 1 ans 2 at greater difficulty will have to complete new low lv content witch will suck so i guess will be for the best for us to restart all over again
out of sig inspiration for the moment

Act 1 and Act 2 with the third act in the works according to the above posts, various other tweaks and adjustments are likely also going to be added to the first two acts then to tie it all together, unsure how large the game will be, maybe mimic Diablo 2 with it's four base acts?

according to the forums there will be 3 acts at release, with act 4 coming soon after.
i really like this game. last night, as a goodbye event to the open weekend, we rushed through the whole game on normal with a group of 4: witch/templar/duelist/ranger. though i guess you arent really supposed to group on 'normal' difficulty, as it was quite easy and took us just over 5 hours, finishing at lvl 27. i guess it would really slow down on the higher difficulty levels though, with the regular monsters actually posing a threat and taking longer to kill. playing solo, normal difficulty took much longer and also posed a greater challenge.
the biggest problems we had was actually seeing the monsters in tight dungeons, because with 4 players running around, particle effects flying everywhere, as well as walls not cutting away/turning transparent when you are behind them it really became quite hard to find on your screen what youre actually supposed to be killing. adding cutaway to walls and some kind of key/option for highlighting friendlies would help a lot.
GGG has said that you will be able to make microtransaction prepurchases this week or next week, which will come with a closed beta key. i for one can wait for the chance to play some more.

I leveled a few chars this weekend and played a hunter 'till level 28 and i've got to say the game has some great mechanics but contrary to what i said previously, it's also quite boring. I played a bit of Diablo 3 right after i felt bored by Poe to try and understand why i was feeling that about Poe and not Diablo 3 (even after leveling all chars more than twice in Diablo3), and i think it's the combat that is much more fluid and interesting in diablo together with the art/map design. I'm not a fan of Diablo 3 graphic style since i prefer a more realistic approach like Poe, but it's art style diversity, together with the camera position that let's you marvel all of these wonderful bits, make Diablo 3 a much better gaming experience. Right now Poe is kinda like torchlight, some great ideas but a boring world.
I still had fun with it but they really need to make all those bright things come together and make a game or else it will just a grinding chore.
P.S: Another thing i remembered. The questing is appalling in Poe. In Diablo 3 there are always these sub-quest events going on that make questing fun and interesting what would be a boring grind otherwise.

Path of exile is the best action RPG in years i've you forget about diablo 3. diablo 3 is in a league of it's own given budget, development time spend etc. It is not realy fair to compare those games.

Yeah i know it isn't, and like said before, if GGG had 1/10 of blizzard budget they would probably beat them at they're own game, but the truth is, after playing both betas, Diablo 3 is the better game by a long shot. Of course it's not a fair comparison since Diablo 3 is done, and Poe hopefully is just half way through it. And i mean hopefully 'cause they really need to revamp the combat, the questing and the map design (and tweak that awful camera), or else it's just a boring grind and not even the great design mechanics will save this game.

We don't really live in a world of ifs, so until something else changes diablo3 is still the better game.
Dreaming is nice though.

Pay to get access to the beta of free-to-play title? That's just low...

Likely, you don't just purchase beta access. AFAIK, you buy something from their microtransaction shop - that you'll have available when the game is released.

I see it as a pretty useful thing to do, people who absolutely would pay to get into the beta can now do so and it helps with further funds to their company, granted it might seem a bit strange but you don't have to pay as they're still inviting people via that 5 minute countdown.

Yeah so a couple people purchased the diamond package. I mean 10 bucks it get in a beta is kinda meh, but 1000 lmao. I dont mind supporting devs, and by all means if these people have 1000 dollars to throw to the devs, I'm all for it, but GTFO with a diamond package. Nothing on that list of stuff is worth a 1000 dollars IMO.

So there are no key giveaways and no way to try it for free? I guess so, since they're selling the keys...God
No, we have no bears on the streets here in Russia.

They're not forcing you to pay anything. The game will be free to play. What they have on their official website is more of a Kickstarter campaign, without putting it on Kickstarter. It's for people who want to support them. It's actually better than Kickstarter for this guys, because they get all the money and as soon as they are donated. And no, they're actually still inviting one person each five minutes to the beta.

Yeah, I'm with DR on this Neon matey; PoE is free. Completely free. It goes into full open beta in June, but for now they're inviting people all the time and those purchase options are just for support -- nothing there is needed.

That too. People wanted to support GGG for doing such a great job with the game and also being so close to the community, even if the game will be free to play. Some wanted a beta key by doing that. They listened and now people have those options. It takes more than making a very polished game from time to time to be a great developer. That's one lesson Blizzard doesn't seem to want to learn.
