Seriously though, ones language is the only way to communicate who you are, it's your face, your voice, your clothes, and the content of it is your personality.
Writing on the internet is a whole lot more than just "understanding", because there is something called interpretation. Anyone who uses a lot of exlamation marks and question marks comes out as some teen who just recently started learning the ways of internet, even if you aren't a teen - it does.
The way you write paints a picture of who you are. If you don't think so, check out the more "distinguished" members of this forum, you'll see that 9 out of 10 write with (humanly) proper punctuation, and rarely spam with smilies and lots of emphasis.
Medication sucks though, I honestly hope you get better, whatever it is.

English is hardly my language either. How to write, however is something that I learnt while learning my own (swedish).
Anyway, the fact that you do not care what people think about what you write, was already understood - it sort of comes with the personality you send off
I'm not saying it's negative, I'm saying that - personally, I tend to think of people who write like you do as if they were a bit immature. Now, I know you do not care about that, but since you won't, it matters little if I write this anyhow.

When they write now instead of know.

When they try to use proper grammar and still use a comma in front of “and”.
It's annoying.
When they try to use proper grammar and use a comma as a pause .

When people confuse words that sound the same.
It's annoying.
When they try to make an effort and still use numbers in number form instead of written form.
It's annoying.
Language on these forums is as important as constant masturbation.
It's not important at all.
What is important is communication. If people can communicate; it's good. If people can understand what you're trying to say; it's good. You do not need flawless English or flawless grammar. All you really need is an open mind and the ability to communicate. Because, face it, if you're flawless in English and its grammar, but you can't communicate then you're worthless.

very true, when posting on forums i never really care about putting capital letters here and there or apostrophes, i do regard punctuation but thats all. i just wanna post something as quickly as possible, if ppl understand it then its enough, if they think i m a retard cuz i dont use sophisticated language then so be it. i dont judge ppl by what their posts look like, i look at the content of them and make up my mind. if i was writing an important essay in english, i d take my time (and english isnt my main language either, its my 3rd), but when it comes to forums, its all about communication for me, ppl dont turn out to be stupid by the way they write something, but by what they actually write.
there, i used punctuation and some commas, happy? |
