It works so much better with new update and that new finally good nvidia drivers. !!! its works like... twice as fast as when it came out on pc. I finished it then on 360 but seeing as it runs almost constant 50+ 1680x1050 fxaa af4x medium everything else(textures high) I might go for it on pc!

First of all. Any technical mods? Maybe some performance free graphics mods or performance tweaks?
and second - everything else Razz

i refreshed the ini but didn't find the [vat] stuff beckman is talking about , kill cams still work but there's nothing new in the ini.....also where can i toggle grass shadows on and off?

It's a shader so it's always enabled, it's very subtle effect.

(If it doesn't exist in Skyrim.ini you can just add it under the [VATS] tag, you only need that one setting.)

tried it and it works , bVATSMultipleCombatants=0 does what it says (ranged and normal btw)
uVATSRangedPercentGlobal=50 also does what it intends to do ( 100 made ranged kill cams always happen) , wonder if there's some command for non ranged combat.

Those appeared when I refreshed the ini file for 1.5, for now I don't really know what they do but apparently you can now set it to start when fighting multiple enemies without having to rely on other mods. Smile


What exactly did you do to get the entries there? I deleted the Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini (also the one in my Skyrim main folder).

Yep, that would be also essential.

Could you post where you've added it in your Skyrim.ini (or better your entire Skyrim.ini itself)

m3th0d2008 what I do when a new patch comes out is that I rename Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini and use the launcher to set what options I use (Mostly just ultra preset, resolution and down to 2x AA without FXAA since I use SMAA.) then I use the console command SaveINI from in-game which forces the game to write out the entire Skyrim.ini file without holding back a large number of commands (Skyrim.ini will become about 45 KB)

It looks like this now:

Be aware that my Skyrim.ini is heavily modified but as a comparison it should still work OK. Smile

EDIT: Oh and if you use SaveINI the file sometimes saves into Skyrim/Data with the name of the last mod loaded, some engine bug.

Having said that I can't even go near Riften Sad any quests regarding Riften I have to use the console to progress them. If I go anywhere near Riften and then save anywhere in the game my game crashes every time. its as if 'finding' Riften messes the whole game up for me.

This is so poor... the _7th_ patch and they STILL did not fix the bug with Cragslane Cavern (if you have been there BEFORE you get the quest in Riften you cant become Jarl and cant buy the house...). Just tried it out and its still not working... poor performance, Bethesda Sad Crying or Very sad

So this is in your Skyrim.ini under documents?
I see you've set bVATSAllowNoKill= to 1? What does it do? Does the bVATSMultipleCombatants=1 really work for you (not just with Ranged Combat)? So you get Killmoves when engaged multiple enemies on everyone and not just the last living enemy?

I generated all / let all ini files download anew. Still no [VATS] entries.

Any quest I get that involves me going anywhere near Riften messes the game up completely! As soon as I 'find' Riften or the stables etc, any game after that is messed up and as soon as I save I get a CTD. I had to go back to an old save and completely ignore Riften, which is a sahme as there are some juicy quests there. Its not my mods as I disabled them all. So I can only assume its something to do with the area.

The only bug I have found up to now is that your follower is too often stucked in the landscape or against ennemies, being beaten to death too easily, lol.

Just wanted to post an update regarding my problem with the ghost lines when looking at the grass (problem introduced with the grass shadows in patch 1.5). It seems that afterall there was incompatibility between the ENB mod I'm using (Skyrim Enhanced Shaders) and the new 1.5 shaders, just like JBeckman suspected. Apparently I hadn't properly disabled the mod the first time I tested, but this time I did it properly and the problem is not present anymore.

Btw, the same mod caused a problem not being able to see anything when under water if depth of field was enabled, all since this new 1.5 update.

Most creative use I've seen of in-game resources, particularly that horned steel helmet. Smile
(There was a horse armor mod quite some time ago and various textures for it, seems they've used the main model from it as a basis here but really expanded upon it with all these different variants.)

the game is really a new fallout 3 in ancient times, but way better than fallout 3, even if I prefer a setting in sci-fi future. For example, in fallout 3, even if NPG could have dialogues with you, it was anyway very limited, but in Skyrim it seems that EVERYONE has something to tell you, from kiddos in streets, guards near doors and honored by your presence to peasants in their farms ~~
It would be very nice to see a new Fallout done like that.

I knew it was only a matter if time before everything came full circle and it changed from people calling Fallout 3 "Oblivion with guns" to people saying Skyrim is "Fallout 3 with swords."

So get the reloaded dlc textures pack and install it + fix from nexus
then copy over update 7 (it is the one with new kill cams?)
and thats all?

(I am not going to use 2k textures becouse I have only 512vram)

(I am not into modding too much, only like vanilla stuf + some essential fixes if needed)

A 8800 while a good card won't be enough if it's just 512 MB VRAM, you need around 1 - 1.5 GB for best effect with the high-res texture pack, I'd say 2 GB+ if you're using other mods just to be sure.
