Exactly! Bioware is all smoke and mirrors with the choices or rather the "illusion of choice" they provide.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

I can already see the horde of rabid fanboys saying: "BioWare listens to the fans!!!"
... while BioWare takes Dragon Age into an even shittier direction and doesn't listen to anyone.

I think DA2 was the result of Bioware listening to the fans.

The online gathered stats and feedback from their focus groups I presume. No major dev would base the design on forum posts since the 1% great ideas are buried under 99% retarded whining. Go to the ME3 forum for example. You'll have to sift through ten pages of shit to get that one good argumentative posts.

You should've seen the Bioware forums during DAO/A times, 99% of it was full with shippers, sex talk and character obsessed loonies.
They even had to make an own Romance discussion subforum in order to handle all the spamming.
Thats the fan feedback they listened to, obviously.

imo DA2 was the result staff changes between DAO and DA2.
Think DA2 got a new lead designed, Mike something. He was probably recruited by Bioware/EA to make a game that would appeal outside the PC / RPG crowd, with a new feel / Story.
Bleh.. I'm done with Bioware, atleast buying their games outright without "testing" them...After the ME 3 ending / Trilogy ending...
They seem too focused on getting their games to the widest possible market instead of making good story driven games with choices atm.

More than enough to fuck it all up IMO.

there are many reasons for the derpification and cheapness of DA2, but the one with the fan feedback was indeed the one I depicted. this was dead serious

I used to think that even after the abysmal DA2 there was still some pale glimmer of hope, but ME3 definitively killed it

I believe a lot of good people already left Bioware long before the debacles started to pile up
and the two doctors have ascended to senior executive status, they do a few PR talks and dine with EA now, barely any involvement with games no more

From PAX 2012:
Quote: | "Suppose, in your party, you have a Gray Warden. And suppose you had a Seeker," he said, showing a male Gray Warden and female Seeker. "And you had this thing: a suit of armor, a chest piece, and it had stats and stuff."
Laidlaw showed that armor set applied to the Warden, then to the Seeker, in concept art form. The armor looked slightly different on each, with "thematic" aesthetic differences applied so "they don't lose their identity in the process." Laidlaw then showed a slew of concept art, with various armor pieces from helmets to shoulder guards to bracers, then full sets, each applied to the two different classes.
He also teased the possibility that players might be able to fully customize armor pieces, applying color and types of material (cloth, leather, mail) to armor sets.
On the topic of "decisions that matter," Laidlaw said BioWare is looking to add more character agency ("My character has an active effect on his or her world, determined by my choices") and player agency ("I have control over my gameplay experience") to future Dragon Age games.
And player decisions that carry over from game to game could be given more attention, he said. |
Some Twitter Q&A from Mike Laidlaw:
Quote: | Q1: Will we be able to talk more freely with followers? As in: Not just when they have a quest?
A1: Yes! Lots of interactions in DAII, but limited access. We will make sure you can have "fireside chats"...or hugs...when you want.
Q2: Voiced Main Character? Yes/No?
A2: Voiced. However, team's working on ways to improve clarity/predictability of wheel. More details to come, will want feedback on new bits
Q3, from Dawn of the Seeker Q&A: Will DotS have any info about Morrigan?
A3: Nope, Morrigan's only for the games. Too personal for a fixed script. Can confirm there WILL be more of her story coming.
Q4, from Bioware Base: Enchantment?
A4: Enchantment!
Q5: Will we see more class-specific stuff? Mage only storylines, etc.
A5: Yes. In general, more exclusive content based on how you play / choices you make on all fronts.
A5b: Considering more story impact for specializations, for instance. (Blood Mage, especially.)

Yadda, yadda, yadda... nothing they say can convince me. DA3 has to be the best game ever created to get my forgiveness for that atrocity they dared to release after DA:O. And that's not happening.

Really?
With so many questions looming especially after the horrible transition from DA to DA2, people go ahead and ask this?

Aspects such as streamlined gameplay, idiotic dialogues and copypasta empty levels clearly aren't important.
Enchantment and fully customized armor pieces are what really counts for the Biofans1!!
It's all about the small details

maybe they got tons of questions about those but wasn't able to give a clarified answer? i mean i hated DA2 as much as anyone else but isn't it early to tell what the third game will be.

i think he meant between classes , like you can put the same armor on different classes but get a different shape (and stats i think)

i am fine with a voiced character as long as they give me plenty of dialogue choices that matter.
Quote: | Something right in the middle I reckon, trying to appease fans of the first with a lick of Derp from the second for good measure. |
so something like the progression of mass effect you mean ?
