Just because you don't feel it, doesn't mean nobody else does.. and 350ms is unacceptable.
I wish Blizzard would offer a strict offline mode for those of us that don't want to "party up, lolz!!" --- Let us be offline, lock the characters if you want, but honestly... online-only is not fun for solo players. |
dude I'm serious, it has never lagged at all for me in the 12 hours or so I played total.
when I attack something it gets hit instantly and there's no delay.
my friends had the same experience and we're all playing with like 300-400 ping which is normal for eu>us

And I'll say again; just because you don't feel it doesn't mean nobody else does. The lag issues are the basis for significant complaints in the beta, everything from rubber-banding, teleporting, hit registration or even downright freezing with nothing happening for several seconds. I've only been playing for a few hours and it's happened more times than I could feasibly count - often to the point where I simply have to close the game and relaunch it.

Yea, who would ever want to zoom in even further? It goes from close to super close heh. They copied everything else from WoW, why not the camera? In WoW I could zoom way the fuck out by changing a single line in the ini. Fucking consoles.

I got that too, though I thought it's because I started the game while it was still downloading files. Seems to have gotten better once it finished downloading everything, no more freezes atm.

Yeah, the rubber banding gets noticeable, but it's only a beta issue I'm sure.

Aye, I'm hoping so.. and I've not attacked anyone over it. I'm well aware the beta is going to have issues, which is why I'm hoping it improves when the retail release comes. I still don't/won't/can't accept 300-350ms as "fine" (sorry Surray, it's simply not fine) which is why I lament the lack of SP-only offline. Lock the characters so that offline-made chars can never be used online, or even LAN, if that's what it takes to protect Blizzard's AH money... but please, at least give us something.
I have zero intention of every playing online or co-op, aRPGs like this are my alone time games, so I don't really understand why I'm forced into using online features and restrictions.
... because damn I want this game. Even just a few hours in the beta and I'm all

*sigh* No invite here, too. Thank god I had other means to play it - just finished 4h session on a borrowed accoount with my DH and Monk and I'm really impressed. The game is LOADS of fun, especially in full party. The latency is definetely the issue, sometimes it's ok, sometimes it's not, I can't wait to play on EU servers with normal ping - IT WILL BE GLORIOUS
Anyway, May can't come soon enough. It will be Diablo Summer for me, I already know that. Hopefuly the weather will be shit, hahaha Hoping to play with you guys, too
Oh, and the so much complained difficulty? Imho it's well done. Some champions pack are really dangerous and I got a feeling on Hell/Inferno D3 will be really challenging. 2 more months, eh......

no offline mode is the one thing that pisses me off about the game.... but even that didnt stop me buying it... twice, once retail and then on battle.net. the retail is a possible giveaway in the hump about d3 release...maybe.
when there is no more room in hell, the D34D will walk the earth

yeah it kills 2 birds with 1 stone. all the more reason for them to never offer offline.
I played mostly about 2 or 3 months ago when there were a lot fewer players in the beta.
maybe the lag issues are just overloaded beta servers due to the massive increase in beta participants lately?
especially now with the servers being down for a few days and beta patch 15 hitting, everyone who has the beta would be logging back in.
maybe try it again in a few days when things calm down again, maybe it'll run better.

I'm tempted as well (although definitely not hyped) but the lack of an offline mode is almost deal-breaker for me and my slow and unstable connection.
At this point it's either a cheap key (unlikely it seems) or no game. Nice way to lose potential customers

Honestly, do you think everyone who wants to play Diablo 3 needs to have WoW?

I've read of people who only had SC1 Anthology or whatever it's called, never even installed it, and got in the beta. It can't be completely random since you've got guys that have gotten in with five (or even more) accounts but random selection is a major factor.

about the lag etc : (and this is purely speculating)
is it at all possible, that the beta has a debugger running, that constantly streams information to the server, thereby creating maybe lag and in the same time also creating poor(er) performance in general ?
Just an idea.

I've got every possible Blizz game on my account, multiple blizz store purchases, consistent payments to WoW since 2006, BlizzCon virtual ticket last year, and signed up to the WoW annual pass as soon as it was announced at Blizzcon, and no invite here.
Pretty pissed to be honest.
Had a friend who got a beta key who's laptop wouldn't run it, so she gave me her account details, so at least I've had a go.

I read somewhere that this indeed is the case.
