OK, this is not funny anymore. Why my stats are not updating since this morning? Yesterday they were updating the second I leave the server. I hope I don't lose all days hard work on ranked server :S

i'm having trouble connecting to a cracked server i just put up; for some reason when i connect to it and it looks like it's connecting, but then it boots me back to the lobby. no error or anything.

if anyone with a RELOADED release wants to try connecting as well, the server is up on 64.182.98.80

OK so now that we've established keys from places like GKS work fine - what release is everyone using with these legit keys?

Is it the Stoned - Cloned release

or the cracked Reloaded release?

If it would work with either, which is the better one/more advantageous one to use?

I prefer to burn stuff to disc for safekeeping rather than mount images

Thanks

Hopefully GKS will get through the backlog soon. Ordered mine today and can't wait to play Smile

I think you will have less problems using the clone. An original EXE will be easier to use. If there is a patch you don't have to wait for a new crack. No worrys about punkbuster. A few other things that I haven't thought of yet. I'm sure they are good reasons though.

thanks for that

Ive always heard that cracked releases are better than Clones

Never really used Clones tho, can anyone educate me as to why Clones wouldn't always be the preferred option?

Eg never having to worry when a patch comes out, etc

They take up space on your harddrive, the 2gig image + 2 gig install = 4gig just for BF2, if ou have multiple games installed and they each take 4-5 gigs it adds up pretty darn fast.

Thats only the end-user side of things, the scene is and as always been about bragging rights, what is there to brag about when you only clone a game?
I miss the cracktros in releases Sad that was braggable, too.

Bad news for those that ordered keys from GKS.

"Well...

Worst comes to worst. Status from supplier is down to "Pre-order" which pretty much means they can take my orders but they have nothing to give me. I can't stay up all nite because of that news, but what I am going to do is see if they send me anything in the morning, and if not, we have to do mass cancellations based on who wants to wait around and who doesn't. I'll work that out tomorrow, but as of tonite, that's all I have to say... I am very disappointed but now my goal is to finalize what I have to do tomorrow.

Sorry guys."

D'oh! Guess I wont be getting mine today like I hoped. Hope they get more soon.

At least I got mine. But I guess I was one of the first to order.

I hope you guys are happy I got mine. I bet you are.

Edit: The game came out the 22th in Holland, yet it seems the 24th in most of the rest of Europe.

I wonder why?

trick for play with 64 Gamers in Singleplayer

search: BF2/mods/bf2/ai than open aidefault.ai with Wordpad

read the instructions and change:

rem aiSettings.overrideMenuSettings 1
rem aiSettings.setMaxNBots 32
rem aiSettings.maxBotsIncludeHumans 0
rem aiSettings.setBotSkill 1.0

delete the rem before the aiSettings... and change 32, in 48, 64 so you want

so now start game and you can play with more bots...

doesnt work. it still only comes up as 16 player maps and only starts with 16 players.

Indeed! Reloaded works fine for me when I use it without crack and with a mini image.

If you aren't using the crack you arent really using the reloaded release. For you it's just another copy of the dvd. If you actually use the crack you may run into problems trying to play on legit servers when the original exe size and cracked exe size don't match. I'm sure punkbuster would look for something so obvious.

Battlefield 2 hits your onboard GPU's memory hard. In some cases, the game uses over 256mb of memory.

Here are benchmarks going from a 128MB AGP Aperture to 256MB AGP Aperture within the BIOS:

128 AGP
Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
60000, 25, 97, 73.783

256 AGP
Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
60000, 39, 97, 76.417

(Max quality @ 1280x1024)

Gamers may want to change their AGP aperture size from within their BIOS!

I also prefer a lot better cracked version since clonecd are only burnable wich some burner wich is sux , so if i can't have a back up copy it doesn't interest me . Most of the people who dont like clone are like me is just a question between people who like to keep there game and who do not want to use tons of prog to make work a game , also it is true that crack games are working lot better if at least the crack is 100% good . Well in this case i wont bother to much since i really hate this battlefield 2 , this game is dissapointed as hell , i have the comp to make it work but sorry for the pc it recommand it is absolutely do not deserv it , the map in battlefield 1 were even better . I totally recognize EA here ==> force you to buy a super computer , buggy game , servers not 100% ready for the launch of the game , only working in xp ( what a joke ) . To release that kind of unfinished game i would have prefer that they delay it again . Definately a game i wont bother with till better maps and many patchs will fixes the amount of problems the game actually have .

This game could have been a killer but EA rush it and the result is that the game is not as good as the first battlefield .

Right, but some questions:
Which GPU did this, and which brand.
How much MB had the GPU onboard.
How much RAM was installed, what was the CPU, etc Smile
Thnx!

although knowing all that might be interesting, and somewhat useful to know how much it could affect you, it really doesn't matter much since you would need multiple benchmarks on multiples systems to efficiently scale the usefullness of this change.
What remains certain is that BF2 demands a truckload of space for it's textures (I blame laziness in coding to boost GPU sales.) and one rather efficient way to boost your available GPU space is to give your system more AGP Aperture.

FYI: AGP Aperture acts sort of like a swap file, only in your ram and for your graphic crad (unline the "real" swap which is for your processor)

Although there are no official "best" way to set the AGP Aperture Size, I'd recomend you set it equal to your video card's memory, as long as you have enough RAM to spare. An AGP Aperture size too high will just be useless and suck up your system's RAM, which isnt good.
Best thing is to try yourself and see.

it's not like it will be in use all the time, just when needed. i have 768MB and AGP aperture @ 256, works fine (if you have a 128MB geforce, try nalu demo with 256MB aperture, it just flies, with lower setting you get 2frames if even that) then again, if you have 512 RAM don't even try. all you 1GB+ you have enough to spear.

what comes to CTD, play on 16 player servers and they work an hour straight, then CTD, in 32 or 64 player maps it's 5min->end of round. (until we get a patch)
