If I were a multi-million dollar super star? Let's use some of your own wordings here:
"there are far too many variables to take into consideration", if I was, I would've lived a completely other life, with a completely other background, which would make me an entirely different person.
So what you're asking, really, is: "If you would've been someone else, someone famous, would you have reacted differently".
Many multi-million Hollywood-actors are much the same Tom is, however - in this case, it was Tom who did it. I seriously believe that fewer are as holier-than-thou than he is though.

In the grand scheme of things? Now this annoys me ... what is? "Particular" in the grand scheme of things? If we take all the four dimensions (particularly the fourth) - nothing is really significant, or rather - no individual human is, really. This perspective doesn't really do anything useful to the main point I provided though (which you still go through great lengths to avoid):
Water in the face is hardly worthy of such a reaction.
Anyone reacting like he did (including you and me) need to chill, it's water! No need for stupid patronising moral arguments. It's a really fucked up mentality that allows a person to go rampant (like Tom did here) when he gets a few squirts of water into his face.
Tom is a darn prima donna, and he deserved every insignificant millilitre of that water. I hope his pride-bar got lowered a bit, perhaps it would send him a bit closer to earth.

So, it is hypocritical to express ones negative opinions on someones faults, while having faults oneself?
Now, I admire your stamina - but I find it rather hilarious that you keep directing negative, judgmental comments in my direction (while incessantly denying doing so) in a topic about Tom Cruise, and then when I - as obvious, am of another opinion on the topic, choose to comment on "my cynicisms", "my hypocritical behaviour", and whatever else you've done here.
Are these not judgments of their own?

If people could never criticise others while having faults of their own, people couldn't criticise anyone at all. Because we all have faults!
Tom's obvious fault is that he's a high-strung, self important "who's your daddy", my faults are hardly pertinent to Tom's.

Myopia is the disease of near-sightedness, it suggest that someone cannot see beyond their own nose, so to speak.

Nice Fisk.. That animated Gif made my day..lol.
It so funny how people like Opra and such love Tom.. He left his wife and kids and is runnning around with a 20 year old. Hes living the American dream...lol. (Note: Im Canadian)
He handled the shot in the face well,(Myself i would have done nothing, just a little water. But im not a superstar) i wish it was full of piss. Or garbage juice. Now that would have been really funny.
