I like how it looks, has it's shortcomings of course both via the mods it require and the ENB plugin itself, wouldn't go as far as to say it looks real but I enjoy it over how the default game looks though there's numerous improvements to be done still and a few bugs to fix.
(I'm using a slightly different setup too.)

( http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=11318 and http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=7654 but 3.4 instead of what's bundled with the above ENB preset.)

( For Realistic Lighting - without ENB - this preset also looks pretty good - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9783 and there's this http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=12180 and this http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=12549 ENB presets too albeit neither looked that good when I tried them during a 24 hour in-game day test.)

I kinda linked to both of them above in those first two Skyrim Nexus links, however a landscape texture pack is also recommended since the official high res texture pack only covers a fraction of these and a water mod might be useful like http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=711 (Or the Pure Waters alternative.) and while at it replacing the low-poly and badly UV mapped meshes is also recommended http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=8655 as is replacing the dynamic snow effect http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10383 but these are just smaller improvements compared to replacing the lighting system that ENB does, even if it has faults and bugs. Smile
(1.0.7 is meant to improve upon that but the author - Boris - got sidetracked with Mass Effect 3 and tried to do a ENB for that, disliked the results - and the game - and discontinued the project shortly afterwards however and for Skyrim he's having issues with the SSAO method currently, I've always kept it disabled however as I can't see that much of a difference but I certainly notice the 50+ framerate gain, ha ha.)

Oh and while I like the cold feel it gives many don't so this fog distance increase mod is also very popular.
http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9930
(And the film grain used in my images above is a optional extras and not used by default in that ENB effect.)

Yes its pretty amazing what your Skyrim can look with those mods.
I'm using Superl3 ENB too, and of course that HD Texture mod.

Does that Superl3 ENB mod fix the game's horrible shadows?
Seems like it from those shots.

Nothing can fix the shadows. Only way to "fix" is either reduce the distance they're being rendered at which makes them look better but the overall scene worse, or increase shadow map res but even then there will still be some places with blocky shadows.

And performance plummets as you increase the shadow map size. So not worth it.

The good news is Bethesda is working on significantly expanding the game with the forthcoming DLC. This is worth the wait.

I don't usually get into the clothing mods, but these cloaks really suit the game, when I saw some Stormcloaks with torches (actually wearing cloaks) in the snowy night wearing these, it looked very authentic

They're not the static shit kind either, they move nicely when you walk/run.

Are they animated, i.e. do they actually behave like cloaks and swing when you move?

just tried them and the answer is no.....actually they stick to your body so it looks really awefull when you walk or run :/ , Bethesda needs to implement that real cloth simulation they did with that game jam video.

Some animation is possible now but the engine capabilities are still being figured out, no doubt though we'll soon see more impressive animation mods and of course animated objects. Smile

(Just one example, thought it was pretty impressive this early on, unsure how those specific cloaks work.)

I love this game for its world but i also hate it for its combat.

How did you guys remain interested in it to finish? I tried starting an assassin, archer, 2h combat, shield+Sword, mage with illusion/conj/destr.. everything basically and got bored round lvl 20-30 on each one of the chars.

It's like, i don't even reach the final perks in the tree. Combat just seems so bland no matter what i choose. I like the idea of having abilities, cooldowns, etc to use in different situations but here no matter what type of character i play it's either spam your attack, keep block up, or 1shot people from stealth with a bow or dagger, or spam same spell over and over again.

And yes i'm playing on master.

Welcome to the world of the elder scrolls, its been like this since the first game I played in the series which was morrowind.
IMO Morrowind is the best open world rpg ever made, its sequals nothing but shadows and quite lacklustre and boring for fantasy games. I got bored playing skyrim after a few days but continued just so i could finish the main quest, same with the god awful oblivion.
Morrowind on the other hand kept me interested for months despite its cluncy combat.

It's because the combat is stuck between two extremes. On one hand you have Morrowind's combat, just click. On the other hand there's pure action RPG, give the gamer 'full' control with some background stats work. If Bethesda does the first, people would say "FU what an atrocious combat just clickidy click click". If Bethesda does the second, people would say "FU this is an RPG stats blablabla shitty actionRPG blabla". I personally have no idea how anyone would combine the two mechanics into one awesome mechanic.
