I wasn't aware movies could even be considered interactive, let alone books, looks like you really do learn something new every day! Very Happy

The problem isnt subtitles, who the hell would want to see a sci-fi movie with a plot revolving around communication problems. But yes, there's also the Banderas way of learning it in a few minutes, but i'm not sure that's any better Laughing

Lots of interesting characters in Burroughs books, very nice story too.. I doubt the adaptation will be as good as LOTR but it seems good enough judging from what you hear from the preview screenings, and they certainly spent a lot of $$$ on it (same budget as Bilbo).

When I get home from work I just want to lean back in my couch, turn my brain off and watch a movie. I don't want to lean forward and read a bunch of text, that feels too much like work.

heh i'm completely the opposite. I use subtitles for everything, even swedish. I think it's a lot easier to read than to pay attention to what everyone is saying in different dialects, or in a low voice or talking at the same time as there's a lot of noise. Subs requires you to read extremely fast, both lines at the same time, otherwise it will distract from the movie too much..

If reading a subtitle for a movie is a hard thing to do... when was the last time you read a book? Confused

Actually getting pretty decent buzz and could end up being a tolerable action sci-fi

Just saw the movies.. Made absolutely no sense, maybe because I haven't read the books, but still... Could not enjoy the movie at all, I was constantly thinking of things which were unexplained like what the fuck is 9th element and what was the Thern's objective.

It's really not that much of a problem. I can ofc only speak for myself, but I don't even notice the subtitles - I just automatically read them when I watch the movie. I suppose thats cos most movies in sweden+telly channels have subtitles...

shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Some aliens in the movie don't speak english, it's those that don't look like humans and have horns...
The movie itself was just so-so. Surprised

well i finished it. id give it a 6.5/10... theres worse ways to kill an evening... but overall the film just wasnt anything much. it really kinda reminded me of cowboys and aliens... the films just lack something... theyre just not 'great' in any area, merely 'ok'... the film just wasnt amazing, or memorable, but i didnt hate it.

the two big problems i had with it, were that it didnt seem to know what kind of tone it wanted to set? it was far too cheesy to be cool, but it had enough bordering-on intense and striking scenes that it wasnt really that childish.

but i think the biggest problem i had, was the chick. i hated her from the start (which i think im supposed to?) but i never warmed to the character during the entire film. I remember that prince of persia movie in which i hated the chick at the beginning as well (again, i think you're supposed to), but i found myself warming up to her by the end, which was good. it just didnt happen here, i think all the characters were pretty unlikable.

all in all... it was ok. ill grab the 1080, but the fact it bombed meaning that its very unlikely we'll see sequels, doesnt bother me in the slightest.

stanton... bird... you guys just cant do live-action for shit. they just DONT fit you. go back to pixar and make more badass animated films please, k thnx.

...still want one of those dog things though Razz
