Everyone is bitching about the "intelligent" zombies. Apparently, they haven't seen the first three films. If so, they certainly didn't understand them, since this is a central theme in Romero's plot. And, yes, this film focuses heavily on that. The zombies are starting to become more "human" based on their past experiences. Why is that so far-fetched?

Just let George Romero do what he wants to do. He created zombies, you didn't. Plus like I said before the movie isn't even out yet.
Plus I always thought it was the human flesh and stuff they were after not just meat. I watched Day of the Dead a week or so ago so I'm trying to remember.

Their hunger thirsts for food... only thing they see is 'human flesh' therefore they hunt down human flesh. If there were cows, as AM said, it would be natural that a meat-craving zombie would eat a cow.
And I don't care that Romero created zombies. You don't just create a mindless killing machine that kills without a purpose and give it a brain. It just doesn't work. Just because he created the zombie doesn't mean he has the right to just change it.
For 20 years people thought of zombies as if they were brain-dead cannibals... and that's what made them scary; knowing that nothing would stop them to get to you, nothing would prevent them because, obviously, they don't know any better.
Now if they have a brain where is the sense of fear? The door is locked the zombie wont just crash into it and eventually break down, no, he'll try to open it… that’s fucking gay!
Man... giving them personality also is fucked up no matter how you justify the creator. Zombies were scary because they were lifeless. There’s nothing scarier about seeing a lifeless man tear a pregnant woman apart without showing some form of emotion. He won't even struggle. Even if his muscles tear he won't care because he doesn't feel pain.
Romero is butchering his own children. Heck… he created zombies? I can name you a few cannibal movies before his zombie time and guess what… they, now, are zombies.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

no he didnt. He just accomplished to produce an epic zombie saga, while the initial idea for zombies was not his...
this is afaik the first zombie movie, while there where others that used the "living dead" voodoo cult theme before afaik (but i m not sure, have to ask my zombologist): http://imdb.com/title/tt0023694/

The 'zombies' in 28 days later were scarier because they were fuelled by hatred not only hunger. So their reactions made sense.
When a brain-dead zombie, who is only fuelled by hunger, just starts acting like a normal person; communicating, talking, making sense then it's not a horror movie anymore it’s just a gore-fest.
I just watched the unrated trailer and oh my god. It doesn’t even look scary. It looks much like resident evil. Zombie pops-up and poof it’s scary. The shots do look astonishing and the mood does give you the Goosebumps, but the zombies aren’t what they used to be. Maybe the movie will be good… maybe smart zombies will make decent adversaries… who knows? But still the idea itself seems rather idiotic.

hehehehe, while searching the web i found this funny write up on zombi-movie-history:
http://www.abc.net.au/thingo/txt/s1123992.htm
Quote: | Zombie films jump so nimbly from action to comedy to romance to gore-splatter apocalypse that they're sure to be with us for a while yet. And they're totally relevant for today's audience, because a zombie's all-meat diet is extremely low-carb.

Yeah zombies that run after you are also scarier now, like the zombies in '28 days later' and the 'Dawn of the dead' remake.
They were made into too much of a joke in the original dawn of the dead I think, so the remake was a nice addition to the series.

Did you see the original 'dawn of the dead'?
Well they were a farce in that, even romero knew it, so i'm sure thats one of the reasons he's going with fully mobile zombies in his latest.
It doesn't fit with reality for these slow zombies to be capable of anything approaching world domination, especially in america, where every other person has a gun. They would be mown down like cannon fodder. The only time they are possibly scary is when you're under siege by them in an enclosed space, but thats been done to death. There are only so many small country houses one can get trapped in before it gets old.

Actually in Land of the Dead they are the usual slow zombies. They're not the running zombies in like in the Dawn of the Dead remake. And Romero always said that he likes slow zombies better than fast zombies and would never use fast zombies.
And yes I've seen the original Dawn of the Dead. I have Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, and Day of the Dead.

And giving them steyer aug's is better then having them being able to run? Yeah right.
It's going to be fucking ridiculous giving them the intelligence to use firearms, but not to use their own legs.
