|
 |
Just saw something about someone complaining how petrol prices in the US could hit $5 per a gallon due to the conflicts and chinas growth demanding more oil....
Right now it says its around $3.73 per gallon in the US
a US gallon = 3.8 litres
so thats $0.98 per a llitre
$0.98 = £0.60
Right now in the UK we are paying about £1.37 per a litre!!
£1.37 = $2.17
£1.37 x 3.8 = £5.20 per a US Gallon
£5.20 = $8.23 and our prices are set to rise again...
So, You guys in the US are damn lucky lol $3.73 compaired to our $8.23!!! Were paying over double!!!!!!! $2.17 Per a Litre we pay!!! Its crazy!! Even more if you want to quality Ron99 stuff, thats about £1.45 per litre or $2.30!
anyway, just pished me off when I read about them complaining when even set at $5 its alot less than what we pay lol
Its even worse if you compaire the prices like in Abu Dhabi etc!!!!! Its dirt cheap over there!!

It's mainly down to duty and VAT in the UK. Retailers take only about 5p a litre.

Question, how many miles or km do you guys drive per week? I'm 35 miles (56km) away from the hospital i have to drive to each day. (So that's over 100km each day i have to drive). Really adds up when you're not actually earning money..and won't for at least 2 more years..<sigh>

We got a big protest against the petrol prices around here too.
We pay about 2.1 USD for 1 litre of 95 octane, and 50% of the prices goes to government taxes.
The retarded government even says we should stop using cars and start using public transportation , problem is - We got a shitty public transportation that doesn't even work at all on weekends.

Horseshit.
Even with VAT (NL, 16%), import costs, the petrol tax (NL), supply tax (EU) and a few other minor European taxes you still only get to 76 cents tax total as of right now - effectively almost 100% tax on the US price. That means roughly 1.45 EUR, not the 1.65+ we're paying right now (cheapest in NL is 1.65, around where I live it's just under 1.80 everywhere).
We do pay a lot in fuel taxes here in Europe, but a lot of it is also the companies behind it.
Only bright side is that thanks to that there's a lot of focus on fuel consumption here, resulting in just about every engine for 2012 being turbo charged
Edit: same bullshit as with everything else (electronics, games) compared to the US, only difference is that in this case there actually ARE a lot of taxes in play, but still not as much as some think.

1.725 euro / liter (8.6$/gallon) at the gas station I work now for E95. And just today I had a customer mentioning he thought we were cheap, cause a shell station a couple of miles south was sitting at 1.83/L. You know shit is messed up when people call 1.725 cheap..

What the hell is "Petrol"? You Europeans and your language. "Gas" is more recognizable (and simple).

It's short for petroleum spirits.. What you call "gas". Gas sounds silly if you ask me.

Gas is something you fart out of your anus. A gas is not a liquid. Petrol is.
