If anyone is still interested in mods that enhance the visuals, I recommend Morrowind Overhaul.

http://morrowindoverhaul.rpgitalia.net/

It looks really good even on medium settings (my PC is 5 years old) and since it only modifies the look it should have no compatibility problems with other mods. I can't say for sure though since I only used A House in Balmora.

http://www.moddb.com/mods/province-cyrodiil/news/stirk-alpha-release

Quote:
Province: Cyrodiil is a mod for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. It aims to create the province of Cyrodiil, also known as the Imperial Province. This creation is based heavily upon the lore describing the region in The First Pocket Guide to the Empire. Many will recognise Cyrodiil as the province in TES4 Oblivion, but you will find that this iteration is vastly different and should provide many new experiences for TES fans.

I'll probably start another morrowind playthrough soon (as soon as I buy it on the near future steam sales Razz) and I'll definitely check this out. Smile

Modded, this game still kicks my PC's ass Sad I've been trying to get through it for 2.5 years now, no luck. Can someone who has some experience with it take a look at the attached pics and tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm getting 20-25 fps in the starting area. The settings aren't that extreme.

Try turning down number of cells in distant land. Or turning it off completely just to see if that's the main cause. I remember having performance problems because of it, but it's been a long time ago.

12 cells is very low, shouldnt be a problem if its not really old hardware. I get around 45-50 FPS with 30 cells and fully modded..

I would turn off all mods in the launcher, if it helps turn them on one by one to see which one is killing performance. If that doesnt help do the same to the shaders in MGEXE.

That's what I don't understand, I got those settings from a guide with a much less powerful GPU (mine is HD5850).

I modded it a while back, tried it and said fuck it due to bad performance. I'm replaying Divnity 2 actually, I'd lose my mind if I don't play it for a couple of hours at night. Don't tell me you're working on your thesis non-stop

A nice tribute to what is (arguably) the best Elder Scrolls ever created.

An incredibly impressive mod which rebuild Sotha Sil and adds the Clockwork City, the latter alone spanning over 300 (!) cells, has been released some days ago.

Its insane how moddable this game is.

I played it originaly on a pentium 3 laptop with an ATI rage 2 c 4mb card Laughing all on low, but the game was completely playable.

and now you can't have a PC fast enough to run some of the mods at 60fps. Very Happy

Ok, as i thought, nothing special about those releases. And i don't agree that a release is a release Razz Not when it comes to a game that has previously been released that is.

Is there some site with mods that doesn't require me to pay them money to download mods (nexus) or just doesn't let me download because FU (moddb)?

It's been a while since I've browsed these sites, but there's the old Planet Elder Scrolls ( http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.List ) and Morrowind Modding History ( http://mw.modhistory.com/download-58 ). Then for the big overhauls like the MGSO 3.0 you can download them directly from their official sites, they usually have lots of different mirrors.
