my parents have a laptop with vista home premium (yikes)
but it gets no internet using browsers, tried FF, IE and chrome.
internet is working though, I can ping websites, utorrent is uploading...
tried turning off nod32, windows firewall...
also did a full computer scan with nod, nothing found.
tried using another network adapter.

google's dns at 8.8.8.8 is easy to remember too
if all else fails, you could try reset the tcp/ip stack;
Code: | netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt |
article on it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357

Go to the properties of your connection and check if there are dns servers in there. If not, then you could try inserting 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 (and if there are any you could try removing them or replace them by the two dns i posted.)
After that open start menu and run cmd.exe
Enter ipconfig /flushdns and press enter.
Should work now  |
If he can ping hosts, how is it DNS problem?

Did you check proxy settings? That is more common than most people think.

Chrome uses IE settings. FF, on "Auto" or "System" (however it's called), also uses them. But if there's nothing there...
