While we are talking about wheels (I still wait for an answer regarding mouse support ), how is the SRW-S1? Smile

I wouldn't want that. Wheel without base means you have to hold it in the air, means horrible ergonomics for your hands.

I have trouble finding DFGT, unfortunately. But, i'll probably go to Hungary next month, and it's much much cheaper there (around 90 euros when i get the tax back)..

Oh, sorry PumpAction, didn't see the question there. You can't play with mouse, afaik.

Yeah, I suppose it'd get very tiring Sad

@Neo_McKane:
Crap, then it's a no go for me Sad Not even planned support? It works fantastic in live for speed...

Ok, here's some info for mouse support..

Andy Garton
Development Director
"It was actually me personally that implemented it, so we have no excuses not to do it for pCARS I guess."
..speaking about mouse steering used in GTR2..

But, this was posted on 29.11.2011. so i guess mouse steering is not high on their priority list.

The DFGT is definitely the steering wheel with the best quality/price ratio imo, it's solid, not cheap at all when it comes to materials, and the price is relatively accessible. I'm still searching for some good offer around here, but it's not easy to find one. :/

And this year will be surprisingly great for PC users, with rFactor2, Project Cars and GTR3 Very Happy

Crying or Very sad Leo, are you signed up for project cars? I guess I need to get a steering wheel.. Problem is that I only used very cheap ones and those were SO crappy, playing with a keyboard felt 100 times better Laughing

Colleague is getting that cordless wheel, I'll give it a try... even though leo is right Sad

Maybe it is time that I write a steering wheel emu for my mouse, shouldn't be that hard :>

Edit: Wow Driving Force GT looks great! (was it initially designed for Gran Tourismo only?)

Can you somehow get pedals for it too?

If I buy a wheel again (and I do want to, just don't have the space or time right now) I sure as hell don't want a sequential stick. I even prefer flappy paddles over that shit. Still, even that is just not as much fun as actually having a proper H shifter and clutch pedal Smile

Yeah whilst the DFGT has a decent price / quality from what I recall the pedals are pants.

Moving from a cheaper wheel to a more robust one makes a HELL of a lot of difference to your enjoyment performance in driving sims. But like I said it really does come down to how often you find yourself using them

I for one grabbed the G27 Smile Wheel, decent pedals (has clutch) flappy paddles for the lazy ones and a H shifter as well (dont use it that much as I am a paddle man myself.

The FF with the more expensive wheels is really top notch, but like i said comes down to what you actually play. GTR2 has some nice FF but I dont like the overall physics of the sim. Cars for me currently is a bit meh... LFS for some serious fun and the ff isnt too bad either. If you want to really get nervous before a race (have to drive your best but gotta worry about not causing incidents) there is iRacing.

Meet up with a load of mates for gaming sessions at least twice a week at the moment and if we arent playing BF3 we are looking for car sims, ultimately as much fun as we have trying them all we still return to the same result. iRacing is just better overall.

The only thing with it is that its taken so seriously you have to really apply yourself to not get too stressed. If you just want fun driving with mates n stuff dont play iRacing. Only if you are serious.

Couple of friends dont have the FF wheels and usually it comes down to the better wheels winning just basically down to the feedback you get from the car on the track, knowing when the you are pushing the car past its maximum etc.

Edit:

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/4565/steelseries_simraceway_s_srw_s1_steering_wheel_review/index.html

For a recent review of that baseless wheel. Personally wouldnt touch it in a million years. Gotta be really comfortable when sitting a race online... Arm cramp would just kill me after a while.

I don't get why they always release small, supersampled screenshots like the devs of Gran Turismo or Forza. The game looks just fine at stock resolution.

I'll be sure to try it at my mates house next time I'm round there. Only bummer is he has his wheel hooked up to his old pc which struggles to run this game in full hd porn mode. Shame Smile

I cba to shell out for an alpha client.

If you're patient enough, you could wait for a trial version.

Here's a word from a Development Director, Andy Garton:

"The one hour free trial is coming soon yes, the trial work itself is basically done but we decided to put some effort into gamepad support before we go live with it."

..so, soon, i guess Very Happy

The pedals sucks ass. I have a broken G25 here. The pedals are awesome and much more reliable than the wheel itself I'm afraid. Sad

I wonder if you can mix DFGT with G25 pedals and shifter. If so, I'm back in business.

Whats the trial version for ,
as in a demo of the full game
or
as a means of raising more money for building the game ?
