Aye, I had sketchy performance too (as did Radicalus as well) - something about the game being massively unoptimised, even mentioned in the 4 page preview on the previous page. Hopefully it's fixed for the final... but it's PB, so I doubt it Very Happy In the beta, I set max settings and usually averaged around 45fps.

It's one of the few games that sends my (cpu I guess.) fan speed to what feels like over a hundred percent but I guess with some optimizations it could do even better for performance though it manages OK but it's certainly demanding.
(I am unsure how well it utilizes multi-core CPU capabilities and AMD and NV probably both need to update their drivers some more, Catalyst 12.3 here and there's no profile for the game - might have been a basic Crossfire one in a recent profile update however - though I guess NV might have a profile by now in the latest beta release, or might have had for some time even.)

Exactly the same here Smile (no surprises though hehe).

Don't forget, there isn't even fucking AA there, that will even impact more Neutral (unless we FXAA inject^^)

I'm not certain but I think they're using some shader AA by default, I'm using SMAA currently though and you can tweak the ini files like I mentioned albeit MSAA might not work correctly. Smile

EDIT: Very Happy

Like Sabin said, my performance was dodgy as well, BUT basically I played all gothic games with dodgy performance, and loved them, so this I can live with.

question for JBeckman or anyone who may know which of the camera settings need to be changed to enable First person view... and do you have to enable debug mode to do this?

Debug mode seems to be disabled (TestMode is already set to true but won't work.) however there is a setting in the config file called Keep1stPerson="false" that could work. Smile
(The user config file isn't all that helpful as it only contains the options you've changed so you have to edit the default file which is in \risen 2 beta\data\ini )

Protection is also still active on the exe file as any attempts to modify certain behaviors prompts a error message to pop up stating that since the file is modified it will not work.
(So unfortunately I can't disable the demo zones.)

Naturally the next question is, can you disable the protection? Very Happy

I can't, I'm just a amateur so I have no idea what controls this protection but now that the Steam dependency is removed I guess others will go trough the game and maybe someone else will manage to disable this protection.
(It could be a simple hash value check but I can alter some values without anything happening so it's not that, only when I try to tinker with the demo stuff and test/debug mode though there's probably some other stuff too which I haven't tampered with that also triggers this.)

So what I found was accurate then. Smile
http://www.nfohump.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1790310&highlight=dlc#1790310

I only found the delivery methods for them though (The in-game stuff, notes, journals and such.) and some other small info (Each one on a separate island?) but it's pretty vague and one of them is likely the pre-order incentive. Smile

@lolozaur

As JB said, they could just as easily be preorder incentive packs.

The cracked exe gets rid of the integrated projects.pak data (Further protection not to modify anything.) so all I found now as dlc1_unlock (and 2 and 3) and some small data, projects.pak though contained much more info.
(Scripts and such for items, unlocks and other stuff I don't quite understand, monsters too it seems like.)

EDIT: The more useful stuff is the island names that come up TreasureIsland_DLC2 and StormIsland_DLC3
(Which means the first one / DLC1 is likely the only pre-order as only one has been mentioned.)

(Again using any hex editor on the exe or projects.pak and searching for dlc or DLC will work, it doesn't give much info from the compiled files but there's enough in plain text for it to be understandable, I'm a amateur though so someone more experienced can likely dig up a lot more and unpacking the file and decompiling the scripts in it would be even better.)

What's up with this survey? Is it official or fan-made? In any case, I completed it and Risen 2 is currently on my "not recommended" list.

They don't ask about combat ... big mistake not getting feedback on that, as most sites point that out as a weakness ...

Doesn't really matter if they don't ask, the previews are full of complaints about it. And I think their forums are as well. So they definitely know about that.

Apparently they care much more about the technical aspects and major bugs (broken questlines and stuff like that), rather than the gameplay and RPG aspects, which is quite worrying considering that the beta was far from being impressive...

Changing the combat system at this point would probably be too much work. It's easier fixing bugs and whatnot. I wouldn't expect any major gameplay changes based on beta feedback.

It's a rather simple survey as I saw it, this beta was more of a demo so I don't think it mattered too much although that e-mail they sent showed they were grateful for any technical issues and information about them that were discovered so you are somewhat correct there Ixigia.
(More specifically it was a launch error resulting in a blank black screen.)

Anyway had this been a actual beta test there would probably have been specific beta discussion forums and feedback would have been more important, as it is now they just monitor the various forums and answer here and there.
(Mostly via deep-silver community managers from what I could see but I assume some of the PB team was also a bit active.)

(The beta e-mail also mentioned that there had been a invite only beta - of the entire game - first before this little demo so I assume the more long-time fans and people behind fansites and similar had already sent their feedback to them.)

Next should be the public demo then, I imagine it's the same but they might have trimmed down the file size to only include the assets needed by the demo area instead of bundling the entire game.
(With modifications so it takes place on world_demo with various trigger zones and who knows what else.)

Oh well we'll see what they do with this feedback now, maybe they will patch the game to include some of the suggestions and fix a few complaints like say adding a roll or dodge move and tweaking combat a bit against animals while improving the humanoid AI?
(Risen didn't get that many updates though they fixed the larger game problems.)

No problems with framerate here.

Too bad it just doesn't feel like a PB game. I don't know what I was expecting, maybe something akin to Gothic, but this is not it ( at least not in the beta ).

Maybe I just miss KaiRo's music.
