|
 |
Wanted to get it done last year but some reason I changed my mind and never went through with it.
But this time it's already paid and will have it on Tuesday.
I'm so fucking excited. After wearing glasses nearly all my life and contact lenses for past year..decided to get it done xD
But I'm still quite scared with laser and stuff but

I wanna do it... I tried putting in contacts... Took 45 minutes for one eye... Gave up on other... 30 minutes to get the first one off... Never touched it again lol but my prescription is like 0.25 so it's not a big deal.

I had that problem in the beginning but after few weeks it only takes few seconds.
It still puzzles me, how I take off my contacts when I'm completely drunk out of my mind.
But contacts for astigmatism and different power in both eyes, they cost like $700 for a year supply

Sabin, if this is something that will significantly improve your quality of life, then you should really bite the difficult payment and do it. You will have to tighten expenses after that of course.

Never heard of LASIK before, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LASIK
Potential complications is half of wiki article
As long as I am able to see with glasses, I would avoid any surgery. Maybe this LASIK thing is different but everyone whom I know who had done eye surgery with age developed severe eye sight problems what could have been avoided by not doing surgery.

^ Yeah, I would just hold on until the bionic eye implants. And even then for the mk 2 version that had all the 1.0 release bugs ironed out.

I need to get Lasik as well, though I first need my vision to stabilize .
Luckily I have no problems whatsoever with contacts, but it's not exactly the same thing
edit: good luck of course!

Been on lenses since September and i must say after been wearing glasses since the 7th grade I found it very refreshing with lenses and not at all as cumbersome as it was in the start, as with Madmax It toke me like 30 minutes for each eye but I gotta say after a week it was down to a couple of seconds. The potential disastrous outcome of the LASIK keeps me from trying it out and the money ofc.

I (fortunately) don't need glasses, but i've had several friends who did. All of the ones who have gone through lasix surgery were 100% glad they did. No more glasses, no more contacts, etc. Are there potential complications? Absolutely, just as in any other procedure/surgery. Just a risk/benefit analysis you have to do for yourself i suppose. I know both my brother and sister had it done. I think it was around 15 or 1600 US. And that included both the actual procedures and subsequent office visits (3 of them i think) after the procedure. Insurance companies are even starting to cover them over here in the US. Like someone already pointed out, it's WAY cheaper in the long run not having to buy glasses/contacts for the rest of your life.

One more thing against surgery... I find it quite amusing that during eye surgeons conferences 70% of them are wearing glasses

Those could be magnifying classes ?
I wouldn't let anyone laser my eyes, just the though of messing around with them makes me almost dissy. Sight is one of the most precious thing we have.
Luckily for me I don't have to.

I am getting the same. The insurance that I have covers 25%. So it was $6500 but with discount it was $4800. I could have went to I guess cheaper doctor?
But those are my eyes and I went to doctor who performs more then 5,000 surgeries per yea.
Laser that he uses is VISX Star S4. I have no idea how does it different from others. After he throw thousands of medical words. I was lost after 30 seconds, as he was explaining why I was a good candidate for the LASIK. All that terminology made my head explode.
I know the risks involved and I read those websites that specialize with "Anti-LASIK". I many of them but it all also depends who you choose as your doctor.
There is some guy with 63+ lawsuits because he fucked up more then 60's people eyes.
I would not spend at less then $4000 for both eyes.
Just had my prescriptions filled for some steroids eye drops and something anti-flammantory drops too.
I will post if my vision is 20/20 on the follow-up that I will have next day after the LASIK surgery. Or I won't post an update because I will be legaly blind
EDIT: After you pass 40yrs. You will NEED reading glasses. That is a fact.

If it would be that, easy.. to just save up the money, more people would be doing this. It is just expensive and people feel its risky (while its rather not)

You misunderstood me.
People who have had LASIK done on their eyes will need 100% reading glasses after 40

Well that would suck, meaning that my free-from-glasses time would last only 10-12 years

Well. I see it that way. Wear glasses during years 20-35. Which are you best years to party or whatever.
And those are just reading glasses, it's not like you are gonna read in a public
