It's not only about dodge though, it's about sometimes you can attack, and defend the enemy's attack right after it, sometimes you attack and the enemy attacks, and you can't defend it anymore, even when all, and I mean ALL circumstances are the same (including timing). That means you can't learn to be an effective combatant, because there's always that layer of random on it all. This change is simply so bad, there's no apologies for it.

I read kicking isnt in yet, might change combat (for better or worse hehe). Not a good sign that such gameplay element isn't in even though the beta build must be quite recent..

I just hope everyone who has complaints about the beta will fill in the feeback forms.

It's in the game and used by most human NPC during combat but I don't think you can learn it yourself as the trainer for it is in the other town at the opposite side of the island which is no doubt beyond the playable area.

Yeah, I tried getting there, had no luck with it - demo ends before that.

The biggest problem still lies with fighting animals, which is never very involved in Piranha Bytes games. You can not block their attacks, though you can dodge some charging animals simply by moving out of their path, and kick others to create some space or even to flip over the heavily armored giant crabs. For many animal or monster types – like leopards, alligators or ghouls – it is too easy for them to stunlock you, as they will keep relentlessly charging you, so combat with those often involves frantic clicking to try to stunlock them instead, or jumping around to avoid their attacks. Other animals, like the claw monkeys and firebirds, spend so much time warily circling you that you can often kill them before they even decide to attack. As per usual for Piranha Bytes games, there is a reverse difficulty curve, and early combat can be a little frustrating, especially as you get the hang of the system, though getting a companion in the second area definitely helps.

Not just me then....

It's a valid concern, but at least in previous games you had something from the get go to outmaneuver animals - here you don't. Kicking is the method, I hear, but if it works the same way, that Patty uses it - well, that will be easier than dodging for a single enemy, and harder for a bunch of them.

These three things don't mix really well for me: 1. KoA:R 2. ME3 3. PC gaming. Somehow, I don't see the link, really.

Smile It's not that I dislike them, it's that these games' main platform is definitely not the PC. Camera, Fov, Control responsiveness and graphical detail all attest to as much. I'm sure ME3 will be better than ME2 gameplay wise, and KoA is solid for a console game.

I don't understand why a game on PC should be strictly PC centric.

I can confirm that the crack works. It does use Skidrow.ini so the dlls used in the crack are probably theirs.

The EXE is altered as well. It's quite smaller than the original.

That's good, maybe it's possible to alter it now to deactivate these area_demo zones. Smile
(Though I doubt it's doable even so, it's pretty thorough.)
