If it's a whole new audience with all new tastes, then why the fuck did they presume to sell the game based off the name and setting of a well-established older franchise? My muscular buttocks it was the "right choice" -- they used the name in order to generate more sales, end of. Had this have been called any other title it would have at least been sold based on its own merits.. and hey, since it's made for a "new audience and new tastes" -- then it wouldn't have mattered if it was called something else.

Fucking management backpeddling bullshit, as always.

Also, why the hell can I not bind the other buttons (4 & 5?) on my mouse? That's insane!

Rather than making it a generic FPS they should have gone for a Mass Effect style game and given it a solid story. There isn't enough variation in completing the missions, it's just the same repettive shit.

Also, as to "Why remake that classic in its original form when it's still out there?", fuck off, those games look terrible on todays hardware. I tried to play Syndicate Wars again quite recently and it looked dire.

"I'd rather make a really good game for our players and make them really enjoy it, than just make a copy of an old game with updated graphics. That's not that super fun for either the end user or us. That game already exists."

This statement is ironic for about a million reasons.

Firstly, making it a FPS is 'making a copy of an old game with updated graphics'. It's a copy of any FPS that came before it. You're damned right that game exists in the multitude of FPS's that have been released over the last five years!

Also, no developers are saying "why are we making a copy of an old game with updated graphics" when they're writing GenericFPS#2932

Alright. So, The Sims is a very powerful and popular franchise. I propose you remake it into an FPS too. Call it "The Sims: World War 3" and let it tell a sad story of a lonely suburban Sim who struggles when Nazis team up with Aliens to start the conflict that thretens to destroy Earth as we know it. Oh wait, that could be dangerously close to ME3. Oh well, you've got your own writers, I'm sure you'll come up with something.

Seriously? Everything Went Better Than Expected

edit3: either the 3dm crack was flawed or I managed to calibrate my display better this time, since the bloom doesn't seem nearly as awful as the first time I tried this. I mean it's still really fucking terrible, but not even nearly as totally distracting as it seemed the first time I fired this up. I'll have to swap the cracks again sometime to be sure what caused the improvement. somehow I doubt the crack could make a difference. maybe I also loaded from a spot with less of the "amazing FX0rz".. can't bother to try now. ENB could do wonders for this game, hope boris cooks up a version for this.. *fingers crossed*

Maybe the bloom damaged your retina Troll Face so now you dont see it as bad as it was the first time

skidrow crack is a variation on 3dms (ie: very similar method), but i imagine noone is surprised by that

edit - typed reloaded by accident

I noticed SLI doesn't work with the 3DM release. Not a big deal as the game runs at a smooth 60fps even with one gtx560. But the skidrow release does work with it for some even smoother 120fps + hz shooty shooty.

I guess i´m the only one enjoying this game? I find it... fun, a bit different from other shooters (playing it on hard difficulty). Gfx are quite alright despite the bloom, tha abilities are somewhat original, character movements has some mirrors edge in there and gunplay is solid. Im in milestone 9 and it think it deserves no less tha 8, when I saw gamespot and ign giving it 7.5 i thought it would be crap, but i´m glad i´m playing it anyway.

Does fxaa work with this game?

cheers

Not at all, I enjoyed it too.. I just think it has a lot of wasted potential, not to mention the most god awful graphics effects choices I've ever seen in a game. Take away the Syndicate name and you're left with a rather competent cyberpunk/scifi shooter that has good ideas but questionable execution. Great music, interesting-if-cliché story and good visuals (aforementioned effects notwithstanding) and I enjoyed it. Should have, could have, been more and it most certainly shouldn't be called Syndicate .. but yeah, I had way more fun than I expected.

6/10? 7 maybe? Distinctly average with some bright spots..

Starbreeze needs to shut it's mouth before it says anything else stupid. Only idiots wanted a game that was the same as the original. What everyone else wanted was a game which was true to the original and this game is far from that.

Well if you paid attention while applying those cracks you'd figure it out but I'll explain it for you.

3DM.

syndicate.exe - launcher
syndicate.bin - binary

Skidrow
skidrow.dll - fuck if I know what goes on in here
syndicate.exe - binary

SLI won't work on a running .bin

Soime people care if the game is true to the original, and some like me, dont, not because i didnt play the original syndicate, but rather because i look at the game as another fps and dispite it graphical flaws, gameplay is more enjoyable than most fps out there.

I think ti's a cool game. Reminds me of Deus Ex, just not nearly as impressive and lacks the choices that DX has. The upgrades and HUD though are cool and DX-like and the weapons are decent. I'm not that far in, but the story seems pretty good and I think the graphics are very good overall. Not a bad game at all IMHO.

Anyone got this to work with Steam Overlay?
When i start it via steam, i see the popup in the bottom corner. But pressing the steam overlay shortcut shows no reaction.

Legit or pirated? It might be like BF3, in which case you'd need to add Origin as a non-Steam game (naming it Syndicate), then run the game from the Origin client. If that's the case, then there's probably no work-around for the pirated version.

It literally disabled some lights for me. I mean there were some lamps from the ceiling and they stopped producing light. Not exactly ideal.
