They did say that Demo had this 2GB limit and that they made it just for (Low?) Quality to be like "max" quality, so i guess final product will be much better in Graphics, AND i hope with animations.. (Its not like i notices it that much, but still)

Yes that's correct. I believe due to some LIVE limitations demo was kept ~2GB, so they probably didn't bother making it separately for the PC. So thats why I think the final game will have better textures/animations.

Since when demo limitations cause developers to create retardedly bad animations instead of the ones found in the final version?

What I don't understand is why they touched the animations at all from previous games. Running animations were just fine in ME2. So what was the point of this shit?

Logic can't be applied to Bioware and their "if it ain't broke, break it" game design choices

But going from Dragon Age 1 to Dragon Age 2 I can understand. Console derpas won. But here there is no win. In fact, it will probably bother console derpas more than PC gamers (if the game was really good and that was its only flaw). So what happened?

BioWere, eh? Something that worked just fine in the first two games is now removed because... memory limitations..? really? It's ok though, they'll reevaluate the game a few weeks after launch and suddenly find they can put holstering back in! For a mere €4.99/800MSP of course!

EA giving very little time for development and not to mention the demand of MP. If BW will reuse older animation people will call them out on it (like they did for DA2).
DA:O was in development for around 5 years and it shows. DA2 for less than 2 and look at the result.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Something tells me people wouldn't be annoyed if the HOLSTER/UNHOLSTER animation was the same as the first two games, come on dude.

Eh I was talking about the cringe-worthy running animation.
1 and 2 are still amazing.

I googled "Mass Effect animator" and look what I got:
http://ca.linkedin.com/pub/brad-kinley/8/1/313
Seems like he left before finishing ME3

As i understand it the holster thing was for the Demo version... Not for the fullgame version.

No

Quote: | It's a runtime memory cost, not a disk space issue. You need those anims for the non-combat areas... so they're going to be on disk regardless.
In order to support exploration in the combat areas, you'd need to have all the anims loaded in memory... so that would be things like the 8-way walks, runs, incline anims, idles, idle twitches, male/female variant overrides, eye noise... etc.
All in all (iirc) it came out to around 2-4MB, which is relatively significant. Also, as you've guessed, yes - I'm referring to the main game (as well as the demo). |
It freed 2-4MB
