i have the stoned version... never a crash. used the reloaded crack on it and plaued without the cd... still never a single crash.
i think the game engine is just hardware dependant and some drivers or cards just make the game crash sometimes

Not sure, I dont have the RELOADED Version, try and mount it on Daemon tools and load up the game without using the crack. If that dont work, you might aswell just download the clone version, better then waiting for proper cracks.

Selt did you make sure the image file from the Clone version was not mounted on D-Tools? You may have used RELOADED's crack but with the image file still mounted which is why it has not crashed for you. Unmount the image file and then use the crack.
I dont know, The game crashed on me 3 times while using the RELOADED crack, and not once did it crash on me using just the Clone image, so it cant be drivers or hardware like you are saying, it has to be the crack.

This game and the whole conception behind programming a game like this are pure robbery.

Dude, go play your COD game than. With all it's lamers and spray babies.
This is next generation FPS with teamplaying elements that will blow COD2 away without problem. Maybe you are just not ready for it yet.

the crack is indeed bad i have dozen trigger function offsets where it crashes as the value is not correct

Anyway, no, I'm not trolling, I'm just pissed off with this disgusting under-the-table agreement between some software houses and hardware developers. This game is a resource hog and looks awaful if you don't have a state of the art machine. This is how they make fun of people.
When Half-life 2 was out, the visuals were impressive even on medium settings. Try this on BF2, and say hello to Pacman.

And let me explain to you why it requires a good computer. It's because this game will be played YEARS from now and still will look awesome. That's why.

I know why the game crashes now, it is punkbuster. Every time that I play on a punkbuster server the game crashes after each round, but when I play on a server without punkbuster the game never crashes. This will probably be no problem with an authentic cd-key.

So you're assuming its smart to make the visuals look like crap for a good 80% of the people. Oh and customers surely will be happy in knowing that they will enjoy this game at its best in the years to come, when more graphically impressive games will be out. This way, most of the people won't enjoy it now and will perceive it as outdated in the future.

You're right that the games requirements are a bit high but BF1942 and BFV never exactly ran great so it was expected. Also, take it account the fact that the game is an impressive technical feat with the large maps and the way it all seamlessly integrates together. When you're flying over the map looking down on guys fighting each other it doesn't take a genius to realise you cant expect to run this on a mediocre PC and get decent visuals.

Of course they want us to buy better hardware.. Because technology advances. Better graphics, better everything, requires better hardware. I really hope you understand that. So if you do understand that, what are you whining at?

So I'm running an old p4 2800 1 gig 2700 ram and an ati 9700 (let's see... how old is this? almost 3 years old?) and the game looks great, and plays great.
You are obviously letting your incompetence get the best of you when trying to run it on your brothers machine. Please stop trolling.... calling bf2 overhyped and then professing your interest in a game that will be even more hyped shows off your intelligence

Allright I don't have crashes anymore.
I forgot to copy the core.dll file form the crack and overwrite the one in the game directory. I just copied the .exe file.
So try it, it works for me.

Man, why are you all complaining about the hardware requirements? It was clear to everyone that you would need a state-of-the-art pc to run this game with best settings... i run the game with everything medium at 1024x768 and it just looks great... and once i can afford one more gig of ram i can set everything to high! And then its one of the best looking games up to now!
And why are you comparing to HL2? Hl2 doesn't have either the map size, nor the ammount of people on screen at the same time, nor the view distance!
Besides... this is Battlefield! It isn't about the best visuals... it's about the best gameplay... and it HAS the best gameplay of any online shooter!

What the hell you talking about, I am using the clone version, Im not using a crack for the game. The crack that RELOADED came out with has nothing to do with EA knowing about people playing with WAREZ version, its the CD Key's, thats how they know. |
My point is that *IF* you do have valid cd-key(manage way to get it) you can use clone and you wont have any problems, however crack will not work as PB will not let it play on PB enabled servers. Further, reason why PB will not let you play even on cracked servers with PB enabled is because if people know anything about PB, it needs to create PB GUID specific for each account/cd-key and with cracked version this will be a problem with same cd keys or invalid cd keys. However, there are ways to disable GUID resolution for PB on server side, make it think its lan, and still have PB work on cracked server for private use, but thats about it.

I am simply gonna write in your style as i am doing now, and allow the general public to view your posts and make up their own mind.
BF2 runs great. GTA SA runs better.
There are plenty of reasons for the difference, im going to make the assumption that you did not complain that GTA SA ran poorly, since you would really have to have a retro system in order to have that run poorly..
BF2 has a pretty complex engine, not only graphical but also physical/gameplay wise. You have 64 players to keep track of, you have bump mapping on all of those players, you have a map that is practically half visible at all time, you have a very cut back level of detail as you can see if you approach a tank, you can clearly see that the engine is very preformance optimized.
You should really try a game such as Boiling Point or perhaps Söldner. Then i can agree with your complaints, but not when they apply to this game, because they are simply wrong. No it is not your opinion (you stated it as a fact), but even if it was, your opinion would then be wrong.
There is such a thing as right and wrong opinions. But lets not get into that please, since i could so easily prove it that it would just make you look sillier.

The only way to play with bots is to use the single player menu option AFAIK.
BTW, did anyone else notice only 10 of the 12 maps are available with bots.
