what I meant to say, that things still getting releases,we have TB now(as option),homebrew is progressing and etc....
what I did in previews days is to give news/rumors,you don't have to believe or agree,but there is huge different from trolling,and I'm not really a guy who listing only to one specific person/people.
I remember just few months a go few people here keep complained abut "the death of the scene". since the huge PSN and TB releases the voices been more silent about this.

Can I, really? A CECHG (that's a fat NAND) on 4.00+?
Only option I have is soldering and I just can't be bothered. I reflowed it, replaced its BD drive and I just really can't be bothered to start soldering now

I think it's more likely if something comes out it would be for 3.55 being fully owned at first. I mean, it's obviously easier to get 4.00 keys thanks to 3.55 and whatever trick we can use rather than 4.00 itself which is probably really well protected.
The only thing 4.00 really brings is PSN support (which could easily be tricked to work on 3.55, even easier after getting 4.00 keys), and PS2 Classics support (they sell a few emulated PS2 games on PSN these days), so I don't think hackers would focus on 4.00 at first.
So I doubt we will see something like the 3.41 jailbreak all & over again for 4.00 directly, and I think it's worth messing with a hardware downgrader for now, because it could be handy in the future (remember, as of now, only 3.55 can install a modified firmware/PUP). And the only logical way to install a CFW on 4.00 would be to decrypt (not possible for now) the 4.00 firmware updater, crack it, and sign it again (and not possible at all, ever, since we can't calculate private keys anymore for 3.56+, but only for 3.55-)

New features for the cobra usb dongle. I'm away from home for the next month so i can't try out any of the new features yet, but the streaming ps3 isos from your pc seems like a cool feature.
Spoiler: | Changelog of Cobra USB Fw 5.0:
- Added support to play isos from a PC using network connection. No more waste of time copying between PC and ps3, play directly from the files on your computer!
Requires to run the supplied ps3netsrv server application (it is inside mmCM 04.01.00 download) on the PC, a version for windows and linux is provided (mac users can use the windows version with wine
Note: when using wine, we recommend to run directly the command line ps3netsrv.exe and not the gui).
Currently the following items can be played from network:
* PS3 isos
* PSX cue+bin or isos
* Blu-Ray isos
* DVD isos
Currently the following items cannot be played from network:
* PS3 games in JB directory format (planned for 5.1 release)
* PSP isos (planned for 5.1 release)
* PS2 isos (planned, but we cannot estimate the version)
Although Cobra doesn't restrict the isos from being loaded through wifi, wifi is too slow for most uses, we recommend to use a wired connection.
- Optimized a bit the read of PS3 isos (15-20% gain in external disk, not noticeable in internal disk)
- Added dynamic firmware version spoofer capabilities. You can set the spoof in mmCM settings. As Sony release new firmwares, the spoofer can be updated by updating mmCm, without
need of updating Cobra USB fw. No system files are modified by the version spoofer, all take place in ram.
Changelog of mmCM 04.01.00:
* Changed: Nethost PC server application "ps3serv" is replaced by new windows/linux application "ps3netsrv"
* Added support for playing PS3 and PSX games in ISO/CUE+BIN format from remote net_hosts (PCs connected to the LAN)
* Added support for playing Blu-ray and DVD-Video movie titles in ISO format from remote net_hosts
! NOTE: For best performance and compatibility of the new net_host interface, a WIRED network may be required (Wi-Fi is also supported)
! NOTE: Root folders served by remote hosts must contain /PS3ISO, /BDISO, /DVDISO and /PSXISO folders to enable remote content
* Added new option in SETTINGS column: "Network Servers" for setting up to 10 remote nethost IP:PORT values
* Removed: *nethost* settings from options[_default].ini are ignored and no longer supported
* Added new option in SETTINGS column: "System Firmware Version" for "spoofing" current FW version to 4.00 or higher
* Added support for thumbnail images for remote BD/DVD/PS3/PSX ISO/BIN+CUE files (*.jpg / *.png)
* Added support to copy files from one net_host to another
* Added support to delete folders from remote net_host
* Added support to view files in TextViewer from remote net_host folders
* Added support to copy games and ISO images to remote host from SIDE menu ([TRIANGLE] in XMMB/XBDM/BOARD display modes)
26 - 01 - 2012
mmCM ver 04.00.01 BASE
* Added new display mode (Board 5x4x5), replacing the oldest "Game list (plain)" mode
>"Board" display mode shows ICON0.PNG game images by default. You can use covers by changing the option "XMMB Icon Swap" in Settings
* Improved File Manager visuals when used in SD resolution (480p/576p)
* Fixed an issue, which prevented operation on CFW/MFW 3.41
* Added support for showing PSN titles in all display modes from internal/external HDD (PSN titles cannot be loaded and you have to put empty RELOAD.SELF in game's USRDIR folder to make it show!) (requested)
* Added lastGAME2 and bdRESET applications
* Added 11 new themes to the theme download section (total of 14 now)
* Updated 15 language files
* Added separate background images for Board and XBDM display modes (PSVBG.JPG and XBDBG.JPG)
* Updated mmCM Original Theme (includes new images PSVBG.JPG, XBDBG.JPG, PBOX0.PNG, PBOX1.PNG)
* Preparations to support loading of network PS3, DVD and Blu-ray ISO files
* Preparations to support firmware version spoofer (auto-spoofing to latest official FW or to user-defined fixed version)
> Required Cobra USB update will be announced when network ISO and firmware spoof support is available |

Also, the new version of ReACT is pretty substantial too .... it no longer needs RAPs or EDATs to make your games work. Just install the PKG, run ReACT and hold O for several seconds, then all your games are fully activated. Apparently it doesn't work that way for DLC though, just PSN/PS1, but like I said; it's still pretty substantial.
Quote: |
reActPSN v2.10
1. Compatible with reActPSN v2.00.
2. Changed v2.0 backup file format to one zip file, backup speed fast more than 20 times. Fixed some rap long name bug.
3. Added edat fix mode, this mode working on any CFW, no need aa user or patched vsh.self.
(1) Auto generate XMB purchase full activation edat, no need any raps or official edat files.
Install official LIMBO.pkg TERIS.pkg HCU.pkg, Run reActPSNv2.10 and keep pressed BUTTON_CIRCLE about 6s, all will be full working.
Higher PS3_SYSTEM_VER also be fixed in SFO files (old save data could not be accessed).
(2) Fix PSone PSP THEME with raps. raps from USB0(1)/exdata/*.rap.
Install official PSone PSP THEME, copy raps to USB0(1)/exdata/ folder(not in subDirs!).
Run reActPSNv2.10 and keep pressed BUTTON_CIRCLE about 6s, all working.
And also fix PARAM.SFO to enable PSP remote, higher PS3_SYSTEM_VER also be fixed.
(3) DLC, in game purchase PSN games not working on this fix mode.
Please using reActPSN v2.00 raps mode. Raps mode is flawless!
|
I'm not using ReACT at the moment (everything that interested me has already been done by EXEtrimALL/et al) but this is a very impressive update and one I'd definitely be interested in.
(oh and this isn't "new" new, it's over a month old.. just remembered it >_<)

Did it come with 3.71 or was it upgraded to it ?
If it was upgraded to it you can downgrade it with hardware (IIRC)

Try this.. this will tell you what the lowest firmware you can downgrade to..
http://ps3devwiki.com/files/firmware/MFW-CEX/MinVerCheck/
Now.. even if the firmware is 3.55 or below you'll still need hardware to do the downgrade..

Well, I gave up and got myself a True Blue dongle. Shipping from China (bought on LightTake) took 23 days (standard air mail), but at least I paid what it's worth, instead of almost twice the price from those very rare retailers that actually have it around here.
So far, so good. Installed without problems, running games without problems too, both old and new ones. I'm a bit concerned with eboot patches, since last one seems to be Amalur from Paradox a few weeks ago, but honestly, Soul Calibur V and Dark Souls alone are kinda worth those 58$.
So, I can pretty much recommend it to anyone frustrated with the shape of PS3 Scene

Weeks ago? Naw man, there's definitely more! Keep an eye on PS3crunch, that's where TB info crops up first (due to Gary's closeness with the team) Also keep this site bookmarked, it's PS3crunch's repository;
http://www.ps3scenefiles.com/category.php?id=1
Last TB game released was on the 20th (4 days ago) called "Beyond_The_Future_Fix_The_Time_Arrows_EBOOT_PATCH_TB_PS3-PARADOX"

A good friend of mine is pretty certain upcoming games will continue to work, at the very least everything up - and including - FW4.01. It really does seem like the TB team have access to encryption/decryption keys.

That's the exact offer (used paypal account to check out).
There's probably nothing sure about PS3 scene, but I've heard rumors it's gonna be hard to stop, too. Still, it supports a lot of good games right now, with a reasonable hope of supporting future ones too. Beats waiting for a CFW that might never come, that's for sure.

My only annoyance is that Team TB don't seem to have any desire to release modded EBOOTs for game patches. I understand it would be a hellish endeavour to release updates for every game, especially as some are incremental, but damn... not being able to update games (most updates are now 3.6+ signed, even for ancient games) is a real kick in the ass.
