This game is so fucking bad, it's not even funny anymore! I mean, for the most part the game feels fine, a bit floaty, but fine. The world and all that seems a bit interesting. So why is it so damn bad? It's Bulletstorm all over again. Fuck off, developers! Stop making these "cinematic" games. The HUD is just retarded. I bet their "excuse" is: It's all part of the vision! Hurrdurr!!! The amount of hand-holding is also insane in this, just how it was in Derpstorm. STOP IT! I'm not a fucking plant! Also, the game looks so damn bad with all the vaseline effects, that that alone makes me quit the game instantly. Also, there's an aspect ratio option, but it's useless since it changes the aspect ratio only in the menu I think (if even that), while the game still has these huge black bars. Half of the screen is black for me. How the fuck am I supposed to play any game like that?! And this is a FPS in which something like that makes the whole thing even worse. I'm sick of this industry. Stop this bullshit, for fuck's sake! Just go bankrupt, all of you idiotic money whores!

Don't forget to turn off auto aim before you start as well, it's enabled by default

It's not like you have to aim without that either. I was basically taking my time by walking (not sprinting, oh no!) towards each enemy to make those "awesome" execution moves. And that was on hard.

To be honest I enjoy this game more than The Darkness 2, the FOV looks largely the same but somehow it doesn't strain my eyes as TDII did.

The bloom is fucking godawful though.

Also I'm playing on hard and it's really, really easy. You can run up to the enemies, press 1 button and they're dead, and it seems you're invincible during the melee kill animation.

I like the gore though, too bad the particle limit is so bad, that if you shoot the guy more than 3 times the previous bullet holes in his body disappear Laughing WTF is this shit, even Soldier of Fortune I from 2000 had bigger particle limit than this Laughing

The shooting feels great IMO, much better than TD2 where it felt floaty. The hand-holding is god-awful though. Sad

I'm almost already at the half-mark and I've been playing it for like an hour and a half.

Has anyone managed to get InjectFXAA working? Ixi's customised version works remarkably well for removing the visual SHIT in a lot of games, making them look significantly better, I was hoping it would work on Syndicunt to tone down that excessive bloom -- but no go. Game crashes on startup, you get the loading bar, then a flash, then nothing.. desktop..

It was the only really positive review for Syndicate, the rest of the sites are saying it is an average FPS.

Also Jeff, aside from the business side of things that he knows a lot about, is a real gamer derp. Heck, didn't he give MW3 4/5?

EDIT: yeah, he did

Disable the Motion Blur DOF in the Environment.cfg file! Located in the Users\"User name"\Documents\Syndicate\ folder. Edit the file, and change
XR_MOTIONBLUR_DOF=0, and the result: Wink

Oh well, no InjectFXAA then. I'll try Csokis method, but what does MBlur or DoF usually have to do with bloom? Scratch Head

All major games get 4/5 and 5/5 from GiantBomb. You know, so as to not repeat the same mistake as GameSpot. Rolling Eyes

log.txt, you probably have the same issue I had in the first try with a injector (I use SMAA though.) and as that file shows you have to put the shader part of the injector in C:\Games\Syndicate and not the same folder with the exe file, that's usually the only reason it crashes. Smile

Been doing the co-op missions now and I find them much more diverse than the main game was, of course you're not really meant to do them in solo mode. Razz
(It also helps unlocking those last info texts and the amount of abilities and weapons are much better plus you can customize everything.)

Didn't think the game was easy at all on that hard difficulty either but I didn't use hand to hand "takedowns" that much, wasn't aware you were protected during those animations even although if so it's pretty clear that it gets significantly easier by using it.

Unsure if there's anything else to say, that bit about the glow "shafts" being the problem and not the bloom itself is very useful however as that file isn't hard to locate at all from what I remember, would be much easier if it's simply a matter of turning that effect down.
(Console commands might work too, I've barely started with that but I found some interesting things already, no FoV adjustment so far however and some values don't really do much if anything but the console works slightly different so just entering a command is not always effective.)

I read the log and saw that, tried copying the shaders in Games\Syndicate and it still crashed. Does yours work then, JB?

Yes it works, SMAA.fx and SMAA.h (FXAA in your case.) are located in C:\Games\Syndicate with d3d9.dll and injector.ini are located under C:\Games\Syndicate\System\Win32_x86_Release

I forgot one thing though, there's a sub folder with all the shader data for that version of FXAA injector isn't there?

That one should probably be with the shader files (base directory.) and not the folder with the exe files, what does log.txt say?
(Sometimes it doesn't give much to go by though.)

Could also try to have all files in both of these locations as a test, of course you don't need d3d9.dll in the base folder. Smile

(And in OpenGL mode this will not load at all since it's a D3D plugin, will still allow the game to work though even if the files are still present.)

I don't have those types of files, mate. Just the injFX_Shaders folder, d3d9.dll and shader.fx. No injector ini, no FXAA.fx/h (though I guess shader.fx is just a rename) I'll try and move some stuff around, see what turns up.

~edit~

Great success ^_^ Thanks JB! I put the folder+shader.fx into \Syndicate\ and just the d3d9.dll into binaries. .. works fine.

The settings ixi set for his FXAA Injector aren't blurry AT ALL. In fact, quite the opposite, they drastically improve the definition of textures/etc. Honestly, I don't play a single game without that injector nowadays. It's too awesome.,
