That picture is worth more than a thousand words, it pretty much explains the entire history of the industry. Fucking well done to whoever made it.

I agree mostly with what he says. But I'd bet money he'll still be playing it though, regardless of what he says. That's just a show to keep viewers. Not like anyone will actually know if he plays it or not.
I would agree with him, only I don't support Online Pass either (and he's fine with it). Fight for the customer should be with the retailers - by using promotions, lowering prices and possibly offering additional art and funcionality that isn't basicly something that's cut out of the game. It shouldn't be done by hurting the customer and taking stuff away from him - stuff, that was made during development time (see Batman:AC and Cat Woman fiasco).

Online passes have nothing to do with the customer. It is entirely to combat used game sales, which you have Gamestop to blame for. It's the console version of DRM, and it's something I support fully. Used game sales are worse than piracy.
In AC there were parts of the game (cat woman missions) that were only available to people who bought the original.
The way I see it, used game sale is just competition - something that exists on every other fucking market. Every salesman and every producer has to fight with it. You want to sell more - then compete! It's a free market FFS, people have a right to buy where it's cheaper.
But when you start designing your product so that a person who buys a used version gets less, loosing something that should be a part of the original product (in contrast to someone who buys the original getting more - it's really not the same) - it starts to be wrong in my book. For example, I don't see car retailers desiging their cars so that when you buy a used one, a wheel falls off unless you pay BMW or Mercedes a fee.

Pretty much every other product you can purchase used, will have wear. Buying a used car won't get you the same product that buying a new one will. That is the tradeoff for being able to buy it at a lower price.
Digital products don't have wear. Buying used gives you the exact same product as if you were to buy from the publisher directly, but at a lower price with no profits for the developer/publisher. Having an online pass fixes that, somewhat. You can still get it for cheaper, but if you want to get full use out of it you'll have to pay $10 to get it refurbished.
Either way, Gamestop and their game trading is a cancer on the industry.
Problem is - buying a used product might get you lower quality or standard, but it rarely affects funcionality. Unless you deliberately buy a car that doesn't work, you can definitely take a ride with it just after purchase. Core funcionalities (and for a game parts of the story and/or multiplayer component are just that) are not part of that trade-off.
I'm fine with used products being of lower quality, but there has to be a line drawn on the product itself. Offer an artbook or a soundtrack to original customers. Offer them free patches and upgrades - like HD textures Bethsoft made. Anything, really, but without affecting the base product itself.
I can see we probably won't find a common ground on this topic, though, so we might just as well stop here

I don't see how it's any different than buying a used book, which can be in mint condition. And if you buy a used car that's 1 year old, you are getting an almost new car.
Locking something out from the base game is much easier than making some effort to bind customers to you. Only CDPR seems to go through all the hassle to 'reward' buyers.
I am however fully against shops like Gamestop which basically make a fortune by doing zilch, so I understand why publishers want to protect their product.

Ok, Twinny, if you think that was bad, then check this out:
I love how you can hear the clicks in the background
OMG is this the same person as the previous video ???
Same guy. Allegedly he makes his living based on the subs to his channel. He does complete playthroughs of games.
Thing is, I do watch some game casters, like day9, and am really impressed by the many stuff he shares and his analysis of the game is spot on - that's why day9 is so popular.
This guy, I just don't know who would watch this guy, and why. He's one of the stupidest people to ever play games (or has angered the gaming gods severely, and is now being punished).
And he doesn't even use direct feed, he records both X360 and PC games through a cam, because, according to him, "you can't do live commentary without it"
*mashing of mouse button in background as he keeps hitting the soldiers shield*
"Why aren't I hitting him?"
Fuck me that is painful. Painful painful painful. The world must be over run with this type of gamer for games to be the way they are.
Truth be told, TW2 isn't a hard game to figure out - now, imagine someone like DSP trying to play BG2 or PS:T. Heck, I don't see him manage even something like Risen. He barely handled Alan Wake.
Now, thing is, this guy is the symbol for everything wrong with the internet: people, who are so shallow and have no value, speak the loudest.
I'm almost through my xteenth play of ME2 and it pisses me off to no end that BioWare streamlined so much of the game, as to be completely honest; ME2 is actually a very good game. Great soundtrack, great VA, decent story (still preferred ME1) and the combat feels better... but it came at a great cost ME2 should have, and COULD have, been so much better. I'll download ME3 just to finish the story, but from what I played in the demo - it certainly wasn't impressive whatsoever.
