MMORPG are evil...you think its the first time a tragedy like that happen cause of those fuckin gay ass games...i remeber a couple of years ago when 16 years old guy commit suicide after is character die in Everquest and its always happening in those "you need to pay to play" kind of games...poeple are soooo fuckin dumb...i hope they will get hang for that

or those 2 school boys in korea that started to argue over some sword or some shit in lineage 2, one of them ended up stabbing the other one to death.. but you cant blame the games..
The games themselves dont make people act like that, its just a catalyst for the retards out there, yesterday they shot their entire office to death when their boss fired them, today they kill their childhood friend when they ripped them off in a game, its the same type of people, different reasons.
Sick people, not games.

mmorpg's are addictive...and like any addiction, someone with the inability to control themselves are going to lose themselves inside that addiction, and enter this downward spiral.
Of course, video games in general are addictive, but MMORPG's in particular feed off the elements of gaming that keep you comming back for one more hour.
Its hard to say what affect stories like these will have on MMORPG's, If it stays isolated like it has been thus far, there probably wont be any change...but if things like this begin to occur more frequently, I wonder how societies around the globe will react to this new genre of videogaming and the implications it brings.

I remember a guy playing Diablo II for a week without sleeping and he died, also in Korea.

Yeah! What the fuck?!
No way I would let my child alone for an hour or two, let alone sleep at night! I'd stand by his/her side all the time to check on everything, or atleast hire a man-servant to do so.
Come on folks, some people atleast try to stay sane, and I don't know how fucked up your parent were/are but my guess is they weren't with you 24 hours a day when you were little.

Funnily enough, you guys are saying it happened to two "School boys" in lineage 2 , and a "16 year old in EQ"
I seem to remember those school boys were grown up men, and that guy of EQ was living on his own. Thus, no 16 year old.

FYI South Korea is a democracy. A rather advanced one at that. It's not some backwater place.

I heard a story of some dad who killed his baby becasue she/he was making too much nois while he was palying EQ - it's really sad how addicted people get in these mmorpgs O.o A guy I know in guildwars said that in his EQ guild 2 people met and got married in real life..
Ah well, good thing I dont play any mmorpgs at the moment (I dont count GW). Peace,

these game can be very addictive, dangerously addictive. I mean, the games let you controll the life of a fictional carachter in "real-time". How do you let someone play such a game, which in this case, can't even controll their own lives. geez...

you guys on drugs or something? you obviously have not had any children of your own the emotional bond with your child is there from day 1 you dont suddenly grow to love them after a year or so
these people were obviously imature selfish people who didnt deserve to have a child.
if you have a kid it comes first its as simple as that your life revolves around your baby not a fucking game some people are seriously retarded.
