This is brilliant. The ganeplay itself is not all that great, but I've never been this engrossed in a story before. I can' put it down, it's like watching a 6 part series and I must find out what happens next!
Well I'm glad they recouped their investment so quickly, perhaps it will encourage them to release alan wake american nightmare for pc as soon as possible!

I'm having seemingly random FPS drops in some locations. Like for example in Episode 2 at the start when you are in the Sheriff's station, looking at a certain part of the station brings my FPS from 60 to like 40-45, but looking anywhere else it's 60.
Nope, there are birds, Taken of varying toughness, invisible Taken and posessed vehicles. I got really bored with the combat even on Nightmare
On that note, this makes the game not a buy for me because if I'm bored with the combat first play thru, why would I waste money if I won't play but "maybe" once more. I only buy games I know I will play more than once or twice or has great MP. This is definitely not one of them.
I am with Werelds here. The atmosphere and the environments are great, as are some of the effects. Then again, animations are stiff and sometimes I had the feeling lip movements didn't sync properly with speech.
The gameplay is nothing to write home about, and exploration is at a minimum. The story is nice, but also quite clichéd, and there is not really much horror, more mystery. I miss the emotional impact that comparable games have.
All in all, compared to horror experiences like Silent Hill, CoC: Dark Corners of the Earth, and Amnesia, this feels more like Twin Peaks meets Stepehen King: OK to maybe even good for the those who just started with the genre in terms of horror and story, but far from the genre greats.
Overall a good and entertaining, but not a great game.

For the last time, it was never meant to be horror. Not once did they ever say horror in fact they emphatically denied it was ever a horror title - the game is a psychological thriller.. and if you think it feels more like Twin Peaks meets Stephen King then I guess Remedy can rest easy since that is EXACTLY what they were aiming for

You're right, although on the other hand there are a few people, maybe even more, who call what King writes horror, so... .
As i said before i've been waiting to play this for a while and......it was totally worth it !!! This is exactly the type of game i love when it comes to third person survival horror genre. The atmosphere is great and the storytelling has been fantastic so far. I'm not that far into the game but i am having a blast. I'm playing this in the dark with headphones and it's an amazing experience.
The graphics are also sick and add a lot to the atmosphere. Playing this at 1080p @ high settings and it look absolutely gorgeous.
You have garbage like Resident Evil 5 and then you have this
I just finished this, very good game. Its strong points are the story, characters and atmosphere, I would say gameplay is the weakest point because of being repetitive but it's not as bad as in many other games. At least in the DLC the gameplay gets a bit better and the fights a bit harder. But the storytelling stayed top level from beginning to end.
On our radar, but hasn't been evaluated how much work these are, and we continue to prioritize based on feedback.
Solve Cursor Key / Numpad assignment issues
Really guys? The fact that this is even an issue at all is inexcusable. Is it laziness or lack of programing ability that led to this? Fucking embarrassing to say the least. Hell, Deus Ex went out of the gate with the ability to map mouse 4 and mouse 5, along with every single other button on the keyboard, and that was 2003. Do the dev teams now'a'days not have budgets for gaming mice and standard keyboards?
Still waiting for SLI support. Might prompt a replay.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
