the only solution is to play with Clone release on servers with PB disable. The releoaded crack is messed up when playing online. Random crashes etc..

Well it will run on a Radeon 9250 but it still won't be that hot. It'd get you low details and maybe 800x600 or 1024x768. Depends if you're happy with that.

Personally I'd try and source out a second hand Radeon 9500 or 9700. Would be a fairly similar price to a new 9250 these days and a lot, lot faster.

Thats just bullshit, there gotta be a way around it, because DICE have said and said and whined on and on about their bots and the fact that "most players" play offline, why would they then only have 16p maps availible with not all vehicles? (like the demo map)?!
Makes no fucking sense, must be EA's idea, and there must be a way around it that DICE put in. I'm certain.

You r apparently not skilled in behind-the-scene facts. If u can see, bots are dumb enough, that they can kill you as teammate in hundred ways. They can even run over you, because they cant see a shit. They are numb as n00b can be, just like in BF1942. If there would be option for 32/64p in singleplayer, can you imagine behave of their play? Dropping helis in to water, chaotic drivin jets, etc etc... AI of these are the worst, development of AI is extremely difficult in a such game as BF, because of big maps, many players, etc, etc... Are you clear yet? Smile)

And please tell me how that remark you just did affects the fact that DICE has gone on and on about how cool their AI is and about how important it is to support players without internet? It's not MY fault that they have said those things.. Dont bitch on ME.
My point is simply, if they yell on and on about that, why would they limit it so laughably? Are you clear yet? Wink

Ok I turned down some of the details as suggested and I havent crashed. Not sure if its luck, but I was able to play 4 straight games of single player.

I turned down dynamic shadows to low and Lighting to medium. I left all other detail on high and running at 1074x768 resolution. Also make sure to turn off EAX in sound this is checked on by default and if your sound card doesnt support it it can decrease your FPS dramaticly.

Hope that helps some of you crashing. By the way Im using the RELOADED release. Havent tried Multiplayer yet.

I sure hope someone finds out how to unlock the 32 player maps with bots.

I would definatley use the 77.30 drivers off the DVD. They have special optimaztions for BF2.

Don't you have to login at EA's headquaters to make an account to play online.

If you do, can't EA see every guy to logs on and plays it already and thus screw you in the bum?

technically it would run on a radeon 8500 lol seeing as that card suports ps1.4 bet u could manage 1024x768 with some settings on medium seeing as the game isnt really that stressful.

with my almost top spec pc i was getting 100fps with v-sync on obviously would be more if i disabled v-sync but my monitor can only do 100hz and i hate tearing.

doesnt crash for me, but i can only play it on medium... my computer seems like it should be able to play it higher than that, and my resolution is only 1024x768 with no AA.. I have EAX enabled, but as you can see my soundcard does support it. Anyone have any suggestions as to whats up? Also, i have dual monitors enabled, and its only played over the one, the secondary is my TV, should i disable that?

turn everything to high.. and leave lighting on medium.. its a huge performance boost between high/medium lighting

It's a fun game, it's really too bad that the requirements are so high. Also too bad that it has to optimize shaders or whatever everytime you change the graphic settings.

For those that are interested, Athlon XP 2500/512mb RAM/Radeon 9600 128mb runs it low/medium at 800x600

I could probably raise a few settings higher but I haven't had too much time to play. Plus it really is a pain in the ass to experiment with the graphic settings.

I couldn't agree with that last statement more. I hate having to restart the game or reload the shaders every time, just seems like a piss off.

If you want to get rid of the various crap when you start the game like the logo, intro, etc. just replace the various bik files with zero length bik files and they will be gone. Replace all the bik files EXCEPT the two that have the word 'MENU' in them.

Here's where they are located:

It has nothing to do with the crack, i play the clone and i got 2 punkbuster kicks (then it worked fine for 3h on the same server) then i got a crash to desktop.

i have it running just fine

ALL settings default, except i enabled hardware sound, high quality, eax

that means all graphics are high except textures and lighting which are medium.. AA is off as well..

controls are default (though i prefer ESDF)

i have been playing for about two hours i think (maybe more, time flies in BF2) no crashes whatsoever.. about 6 different servers, some 'cracked' some EA official all work fine

i'm using the nvidia drivers that were supplied with the demo (gf6800) .. i think 77.30 or something

audigy 2 OEM with latest creative drivers (installed the alternate .exe way cause the regular .exe only works on RETAIL not OEM)

AMD XP-M 2500+ OC'd to 2.2 gig

generic 1gig pc3200 ram

dunno what else to say to anyone whose game is crashing.. try using the same drivers as me..

DXdiag settings are all default, so the hd accel isnt turned down or anything..

i dont have a special BF2 profile in nvidia performance profiles..

hdd is pretty defragged..

dunno what else to say

all you guys that have crashes, did the demo run fine for you?
