For me COD2 was the best, great mp modes and maps. COD4 was good as well, it was the last one in the series that I paid for.

CoD 2 was a weak ripoff compared to CoD 1, engine had HORRIBLE look with plastic covering everything 
Rifles especially felt shit, MP44 had almost no recoil anymore

I dunno how they can make the fucking q3 engine run like half the performance compared to infaility ward's "offerings", but at least BO had okayish campaign, but as majority have already mentioned, it's been all downhill after cod 4. At least the performance is gonna be ok for most with even around midrange hardware unless they fucking unoptimize it to hell and back again. BO ran fine for me even with a 4850 I had at the time, unpatched, with some messing around with priority and whatnot. It still doesn't make sense how their cods use hw so much worse, unless they're only "talented" in the story/campaign building aspect, which would lead me think they were a team assembled from a couple of modders.. And I really have never felt like being arsed to find out their origins, I do remember the activision/iw shitstorm though.

imo the cod2 with tank battles was far superior with huge maps where you have you have to blow up bunkers

It's also funny seeing someone act like an elitist about CoD1 being better than CoD2, when he was apparently playing CoD1 "professionally" when all of the non-shit grade pro gamers were still playing CS 1.6, Quake 3, and the odd bit of UT.

So what are you claming then, that CoD1 was never played professionally? Or for money?
If they didn't then why where there clans like Ocrana.ATI or WHO (lot's more, just my memory fails me).
And FYI, playing CoD1/2 and 4 on pro level, isn't shit compared to CS/Q3/UT players..
But heck, you prolly never even managed to play on such levels

See, I never once said that. What I'm implying is that you're probably overstating being a professional player. For example, I played highly competitive CS, attending tournaments -- winning money at local events, getting the occasional drip of money from a sponsor, things like that -- but I couldn't claim to have been a "pro", but rather a "wanna be pro." Fully sponsored pros like Team 3D, Check Six, or certain modern equivalents like Ultimax Gaming, are rather more rare.
But, regardless, you missed my point. If I start raining shit down on you for playing an inferior game, you can come up with all sorts of reasons why it's not, and get all defensive and butthurt in the process. Whereas this guy says CoD2 was better, and well, you're fine to shit all over him for that.
And yeah, CoD1 wasn't on even close to the levels of participation and competition as CS 1.6 or Quake 3. Trying to say otherwise is insane. CoD1 did have a nice competitive scene, but more on the level of Painkiller than of the then-major three of CS/Q3/UT.

First, i never said you claimed that, hence a questionmark behind it...
You maybe can't claim to be a pro at CS, because there are way more better players maybe.
But i certainly can say that i played on the highest level together with those pro people in CoD1 (before 2 came out).
Plus you started personal shitting on me, calling me "elistist" and indirect calling me a shit player "the non-shit grade pro gamers were still playing CS 1.6, Quake 3, and the odd bit of UT.".
FYI i was payed to go to lanparties and participate in tournaments and i had (eventually) 3 personal sponsors, not big onces but sponsors nothing the less.
True that CoD can't be compared with how big the competetive scene was in CS/UT/Q3, those games where released 4 years BEFORE CoD got out.. DUH...
Plus the fact that everytime a new CoD came out, players moved on...
But you just CANNOT compare those games with eachother (maybe UT/Q3 a little) but there is no way of telling if a CS or UT or Q3 pro would be in the top of CoD players.
So it still is, playing with the best of the best in CoD makes you a pro player no matter how you turn or twist it.

Okay, I realize I was a bit overboard. But regardless, playing with the best doesn't make you a pro -- getting a regular paycheck makes you a pro. I played with and against the best 1.6 players, had sponsors, got paid to go to events like the CPL, but that still doesn't really qualify (at least in my eyes) me as having been a pro.
Then again, that's just my strict interpretation of what being a real pro gamer is.
Regardless, playing at the top end of any game gives you an amazing rush. And you think about it long after that time is gone. But still, to put it in less of a sarcastic, douchey and rude way that I originally did: Experiences as a top-end gamer don't really make you an authority on what a good game actually is, they make you an authority on the game you love. So, you know, being amazing at CoD1 doesn't really make your opinion about CoD2 any more valid

TBH, looking back, all that gaming was a real waste of time and not really worth it in the end.
The pay in the end did not match the amount of grind put into the damn thing.
But hey, kept me away from drugs. That's good right?
