My beef with the latest CoD's other than the annual releases and no real progress, is the shift from gunplay.
CoD4 was simple with only 3 killstreaks and an emphasis on guns, MW2 and onwards added too much bullshit for my taste.
I remember them saying MW3 will focus on gunplay just like MW1...BULLSHIT.
It's MW2 with some new nuts and bolts.

Not to mention the "consolification" which is suffers from greatly, no matter how badly Black Ops were at the start you still have to get some kudos to Treyarch for actually trying to listen to it's PC crowd with both dedicated server and game mechanics which resembled the more classic COD, don't get me wrong though black ops was filled with kill streaks and shitty optimization.
After Windows' format I finnally fixed my Steam-issue and just finnished SP. I have to admit it was much better than I expected. I would say maybe the best CoD SP after CoD 4.

so are any of the mw3 hosters like Alter or Techo worth bothering with? I read back and its not really a open shut case it seems.. apart from the ddos bullshit etc im unsure if all that is still holding true..

If AIW have stopped with their fucking DDoS/Botnet bullshit, then that's the one you want. Proper online play as if it was playing a legitimate copy - the only missing feature is dedicated servers atm.

edit: hmm 6.7gb from torrent, or dedicated server dl from steam way on vid is same but when i look at it now dling its saying its 14.090gb.... ? and on the altermw3 site it states u must have the latest files for the dedi server to be able to play.. is it really 14gb now?
Go for AlterMW3 if you want to become part of a botnet under suspicious fucks that obviously knew what the hell was going on before it all became public but chose to act innocent about it. Oh and yeah, they provide a similar online service to the retail/bought game.
well i dont have time to find people to play a game with mostly, if it means waiting on folks one knows to bother.. only reason I did not go straight for the technogods work around and asked about it all instead.
what id like to know is, were networks at risk etc while only playing the game or was it more of a backdoor using ur ip while u were not playing..? I have not looked at any code or info on this as yet.
edit: too many loaders etc in the tekno threads, been using the top one in the list and works but not sure what or if one should be using any of the others listed.. very confusing they do this shit with il2 sturmovik and mod updating its a pain in the ass especially for my old man that cant deal with such things at 70+

All people do in this game is play in the cheapest way possible, they either camp and shoot you in the back or run around with OP akimbo which is deadly at ANY FUCKING RANGE and out performs assault rifles and SMG's.
For what it takes to down one player in this game you can kill 3-4 players on MW1.
Do the retards at Sledgehammer not know what balance is?
And team balance is fucking stupid, every single time it put all the experienced players who unlocked everything on one team, and all the people who downloaded for the free weekend on the other.
Really fucking great.
Oh and the overall feel of MW3 is awful, everything feels sluggish, like a true console title.
