Just found this while browsing TouchArcade:

Quote:
“Any news about Max Payne on iOS?” - avbros

Yes – following the release of Grand Theft Auto III for iOS (and Android devices) late last year, the original Max Payne will be our next release for mobile devices. We will have an official announcement soon confirming the release date, but you can expect it to finally be released sometime in the next couple months.

...how will strafing work?

As in every other shooter? Moving with left stick, looking with swiping right finger. Two buttons for shooting, one for bullet-time and another one for painkillers. I know it's a lot of buttons, but that is converted PC games on IOS Wink

It'll basically be exactly what bringiton said - wouldn't be the first game to have such a control scheme - though it will certainly make the game less fluid. Still... Max Payne on MY iPad? Yes please!

Far too few developers bother with programming support for stuff like that. iCade will never really be anything more than a gimmick, compatible with very few games and homebrew apps, which is a shame as not only is the iCade itself a fantastic addon -- but the devs just bought out a new product called the iCade 8-bitty , a NES-styled bluetooth controller.

Yeah i wish icade would support more games :/ But at least it should be possible to use it with iMAME4all.. Same thing with trackIR5 which i just ordered, it seems like an awesome product, but very few games has native support.

But its understandable too i guess, it costs money to develop integration and people will buy the games anyways..

Dead Space works pretty well on ipad, took a little while to get used to it but works quite well, maybe this will be something similar..

Out now in NZ: http://itunes.apple.com/nz/app/max-payne-mobile/id512142109?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4

Features:
• Max Payne's signature slow motion gunplay, Bullet Time®
• Stunningly sharp, HD quality resolution and textures
• Retina supported resolution for the new iPad
• Gameplay tailored for touch screen devices
• Highly customizable controls
• Multiple aiming modes
• Rockstar Social Club integration to track stats, unlock cheats and more

For optimal performance, we recommend re-booting your device after downloading and closing other applications when playing Max Payne Mobile.

I bought this immediately on launch (no, really... I was waiting for 12:00 GMT to hit so I could snag it Laughing) but also regretted it immediately. The controls are poor, there are simply too many actions spread out across the touch screen that makes it uncomfortable to play, and to say the framerate is bipolar is like saying the sun is a bit hot. The framerate judders constantly on my iPad 2, which is... whoa. Not cool. Sometimes it's buttery smooth, other times it noticeably drops and judders all over the place.

Oh well, it was only £1.99 >_>

I have an iPad 2 and it's not stuttered on me once, have a little framerate hics on my Iphone 4 but the pad is smooth as fuck. Also, once you get used to the controls it's pretty good. They've slightly altered the bullet soak of enemies to accommodate the lack of aim precision.
