RS are fucking retarded, really. Oh well... no loss to anyone, there are plenty of other hosts.

for free users? please...
there was only megaupload and rapidshare.
all other filehosters suck.

plus it's always like this in the evening.
i can still download with 5,5mb/s over night. (without waiting)
why is everyone complaining? rs is still the best option for free users. just avoid weekends and evenings

Go try it and see what happens, it only started yesterday.

I get decent speeds (150KB/s, crappy long phone line) for 1.95mb, then a long pause, another 1.95mb, etc.
Resume is now disabled for free users.

The best thing about rapid was no captchas, most other decent sites use them Sad

if rapidshare is doing this then because of heavy server load.
ofc they aren't "saints" and want to make money but i think rs did a good job in the past and for free users it was the best alternative a very long time. (besides megaupload)

they had to do it so premium users won't get slow speeds because of soo many free users.
imagine all the mu people coming to rs in just a few days.
they had to do it...

Well, the way how it's now, they could've just ban free users. It's same effect.

freiwald, rs was much bigger than megaupload before they went full retard the first time. They have enough storage and bandwith. It's just rapidshare policy.

FUCKKKKKkkkk I want to download the new rom for my phone Crying or Very sad

RS pulling this kind of shit in the past is what made Megaupload so popular. Before, all you could see were RS links everywhere.. then RS turned to shit and people stopped using them, went over to other places like MU and even the FileXXXX sites like Serve and Sonic.

Somebody just showed me this:

http://www.alldebrid.com/

They have a 2 day free trial account, and it works perfectly. Just got a bunch of stuff from RS at full speed. Definitely considering buying a premium account, as it is essentially a bunch of premium accounts bundled into one, and for less than the cost of an RS account.

Are there any downsides to this that I haven't thought about?

The downside to some of these premium providers is that they inevitably get banned by whichever filehost they're providing. It happens a lot and if you've just paid for your account, you're left out of pocket.

So I'm turning to the good old torrents Smile

Hahahahaha!! Ok, as much as it's annoying having these speed limits imposed on us, RS is doing the smart thing in offering "legitimate" uploaders the chance to make their files accessible at normal speeds --- and they're doing the smart business thing by making pirates pay to access the service Laughing

Grudging respect where it's due, hats off to RS

"We are confident that this will make RapidShare very unpopular amongst pirates and thus drive the abusive traffic away"

Okay, farewell RS then, the terrible "abusive traffic" was the only thing that was keeping you afloat Laughing

Yeah, I've noticed that too. Strange how they keep hopping from foot to foot over the speed issue. For as long as they're full speed with no time limits, I'll use them, otherwise? Plenty of other places too Very Happy

The recent 30kB/s limit was so ridiculous Very Happy Laughing

I really hope they keep it this way because rapidshare is still the most used file-hoster out there, almost everything has RS mirrors. Smile
