well, this game is great for first 48~ hours, but thats sadly about it
its one of those grand strategy without content to be grand..
there is so many times you can restart and do the same
in the end it all boils down to, making empire, keeping it, empire rebeling/breaking/inheritance you declare war to take it all back, its like that over and over again, there just isnt anything else

In a way, true.
But the game is about the journey there. There are some superbly easy countries to play with and the game gets quickly boring with them (Leinster and Lubeck for example) Both 1 province independent counts.
Also it's worth setting some rules to make it more interesting. Like playing with the Gavelkind succession. Especially; no save-loading.

So looks like the gamersgate version is different than other versions which are steam. =]
Smikis, 48 hours is still good. Also, patches will be addes, possible expansions/dlc's not to mention mods.

Btw, it looks like the DLCS have kind of drm protection in them.
I have the mongol faces and dynasty shields dlcs and found a file called dlcsignature which contained one hex string in it.
Maybe it registers the dlcs once you log into the ingame store and buy them, and just by copying them they're unregistered and the game wont use them.
ofc, just speculations.

It's not as if the DLC is actually needed. I for one have yet to encounter the mongol faces (since I play mostly western european powers)
and the dynasty shields... I don't see a difference to the Skidrow version / demo I played sooooo yeah. Not that necessary me thinks.

So do I understand it correctly - the game is unprotected, so if I buy it on gamersgate for example I would be able to share it with someone else and we both could play?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. I do however know why you shouldn't do it

So I got the SKIDROW release to check its lack of protection. It is indeed unprotected, which begs the question... what the hell are they actually cracking? However, presumably because it's the Steam version, the game launcher lacks the "Check for Update" button common in recent Paradox games. It also makes me think standard patches wouldn't work, since in its infinite retardation (and hidden draconian attitude), Steam issues its own patches.
Which means SKIDROW has to provide the patches as well, and as 1.02b proves, they can botch the task too. My checksum turns out to be ZZIF, when a good Samaritan pirate told me the right one for the latest version is JBOO. And it has those UI and flag issues people have mentioned.
But onto the game itself, does it lack content in the way Sengoku does? I read similar complaints about that one.

Sengoku is the "prequel" to crusader kings (full priced though), it has the same core mechanics, but ck2 has more detail. In sengoku you could only rush to become shogun and didnt had much replay value.

its paradox game, so its gonna lack content , its highly addictive for first 2-3 days, then its not worth starting up without major mods which wont be out for year or two, but its still worth download and playing for those couple days before you reach that point, after all games have that point, its just bad that games like this have no replay value

40 euro for 48 hours? Perfectly reasonable and more than you usually get. No replay value? While I can agree not as much as europa universalis 3, but no replay value?

The reloaded patch version is bugged, text files do not work etc,
Found a clean install for 1.02b (one that will probably works fine with later patches)

that depends what you consider replay value, in those 48 hours, and i meant more like 2-3 days not actually 48 in game time, tho thats hard to monitor because of different speed people use, i suppose 3 is most used, and 4 used on dry periods
when i say no replay value i mean that after restarting for 2-3 times, you wont wanna do 4 5 6 7 and so on
you probably wont event want to reach game end time, 1444? or something of that year
because there is actually very little to do, diplomacy lets be honest is a joke
i dont think you can even become vassal on your own will, you cant request your vassals to transfer vassals to you and many other things i could go on and on, but there is no real diplomacy
reputation/liking or what you call system is just broken, i can have king that have 100 with vassals, he dies my sons becomes king, and suddenly most of them are in -30 to -100 range,
that alone deserves 2 pages of ranting how broken it is, but i can see it being fixed by patches/mods
generally to what game boils down, is starting either independent or vassal, then going independent or expanding, creating kingdom if you didn't start as one, then loosing it all, recapturing , loosing again, recapturing, on and on and on, after 50 time it goes beyond boring
building upgrades are meaningless ,you can put thousands of gold into one province and see it being inherited by someone else, research doesn't exist ( well there is one but doesn't do much, regions either start with 0 0 0 or 4 4 5 or like 7 16 16, some are half researched, like most wont get +1 in 200 years..)
but dont let my rambling stop you, i didn't enjoy game as much as this in a while, its one of those just one hour more before sleeping, then hour more
i am just sad that after that great time it all disappear and its another grand strategy game that isnt grand at all and needs 2 years of mods to mature

I think this repack is the Gamersgate edition. The in-game store links to Gamersgate and the prices for the DLC are listed in blue coins. Hopefully this user will upload updated version as well.

Patches can be downloaded from paradox website, gamershell, etc. The game has no drm, the reloaded release is just bad, that's all. The only weird thing is that it took more then a week for a solid release to show up.

The game is fun enough to play 1-2 times (not untill the end date) untill you're bored, and pick it up again after 6-12 months with new patches/expensions. That is my experience with paradox games in general. Grand strategy always comes up to painting the map you're colour and that gets old after a couple of hours. Crusader kings 2, along with victoria 2 are the best games in the series without doubt, i've you don't like it is isn't you're kind of game.
